    Ascot Place 6 Preview | 29th March

13.55 Ascot Racecourse Supports Horse Rangers Hampton Maiden Hurdle GNOMON has rattled the crossbar on all three hurdle starts, finishing second in each of them and should be winning soon. The other one to consider is THE EGYPTIAN GINGE, who ran a solid race when second at Haydock earlier this month and also has leading claims with more to come.

13.20 William Hill Bill Turner Memorial EBF Brocklesby Stakes Not much to go on, mostly pedigree. Richard Hannon does well in these sorts of events so both A BEAR AFFAIR and THE KALONJI MAN must be worth a second look.

14.20 wearahatday Supporting Brain Tumour Awareness Month Maiden Hurdle It will be fascinating to see how OUR GUIDE goes on debut for Jamie Snowden. He easily beat Zeus Power on his only start in Ireland and the latter subsequently placed in a Grade 1 event at the Cheltenham Festival.

14.18 ECIS Health Conditional Jockeys’ Training Series Handicap Hurdle A lot of these have something to prove so it’s wise to focus on the top of the market. THE SWAY and Timeforarum both won last-time-out but it’s the former who shades the vote.

Saturday Weekend Preview: Take a chance in the Mile at Donny

This weekend welcomes the start of the British Flat season at Doncaster and I have provided my thoughts on the main races throughout the card.   Cammidge Trophy Stakes (13.50pm) Spycatcher bids for back-to-back wins in the race having defeated Iberian twelve months ago, but there’s strong competition, and the one that could run well is MY MATE ALFIE.

14.15 Join The Johnson White Racing Syndicate Novices’ Hurdle Being back in calmer waters can surely see FALLS OF ACHARN register a second win for Paul Nicholls. He wasn’t disgraced when fourth in a Grade 2 event last time out and can see off Sinchi Roca, who ran poorly at Fontwell when last seen.

14.00 Virgin Bet Maiden Hurdle I’ll take a chance on LOUSTIC DU CHATEL, who has shaped well on both starts in this sphere and might be able to open his account. He was a good winner on debut at Ascot in a bumper and retains potential, so he looks set to make a major impact under Tom Bellamy.

13.15 Castle Windows Newbury Anniversary Novices’ Hurdle The opener presents KOCKTAIL BLEU with a fine opportunity to score for the first time since his hurdles debut. Last seen finishing runner-up in a Grade 2 event at Kempton, the six-year-old will appreciate the drop in grade and can therefore see off some promising types.

14.00 BetVictor Novices’ Hurdle LE FRIMEUR appears to be a promising prospect based on his hurdles debut success at Chepstow, where he had plenty up his sleeve and could be anything. This is a stiffer task but Harry Derham’s youngster has the potential to rank higher and is fancied to remain unbeaten.
