York Win 6 Preview | 20th August

13.50 Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (Fillies’ Group 2)

MOONRISE has won two of her three starts and was second at Royal Ascot in between those two wins. She is a big player, likewise LIBERTANGO and Irish raider LIVENKA. I think the winner will come from one of these three as they bring the best form to the table. An intriguing opener to say the least.

Tips: MOONRISE, LIBERTANGO & LIVENKA

14.25 Harry’s Half Million By Goffs

TOKAIDO hasn’t looked back since finishing second on debut, winning his next four outings, including Group 2 and Group 3 events. In spite of shouldering more weight than the rest, Amy Murphy’s charge ought to give this a good crack against SUN GODDESS, who is the big danger, ahead of the unbeaten SATELLITE OF LOVE.

Tips: TOKAIDO, SUN GODDESS & SATELLITE OF LOVE

15.00 Sir Kevin Sinfield 7 In 7 Grand Finale Handicap

The Oli Rix-trained SPELL MASTER is who I am drawn to in this wide-open race. He outran his odds when sixth in the John Smith’s Cup here on his penultimate start and was unlucky not to finish closer than seventh at Goodwood last time out. The handicapper has surprisingly left him on the same mark, so he’s a contender. Last year’s winner BULLET POINT and CERULEAN BAY are others worth a mention.

Tips: SPELL MASTER, BULLET POINT & CERULEAN BAY

15.35 Legends Global Yorkshire Oaks (Fillies’ And Mares’ Group 1)

Last seen beating Calandagan, if KALPANA turns up in this similar form then she ought to take a lot of heating. However, JOHANNA WALSH was a really good winner of the Irish Oaks last time out and is less-exposed with more to come. She is marginally preferred to last year’s winner Minnie Hauk. This is a great race on paper, so hopefully we will be treated to a cracker.

Tips: KALPANA & JOHANNA WALSH

16.10 British EBF & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes (Fillies’ And Mares’ Listed)

VAUNTINGLY has been a model of consistency so far in her career and looked desperately unfortunate not to collect a Listed event when last seen having only been beaten by a short-head. She looks sure to progress and can make the trip over to the UK worthwhile. Debutant winner WITHOUT PREJUDICE is immediately stepped up in grade and is of interest.

Tips: VAUNTINGLY & WITHOUT PREJUDICE

16.45 Mews Hotel Ossett EBF Stallions Nursery

WELEYFF has progressed with each start and has won his last two starts, including at Doncaster, where he did plenty wrong but was too strong for the rest. A more polished display should see him very competitive. RISING TIGER has been runner-up on all three starts and is another that could be involved given his trainer’s excellent record in the event.

Tips: WELEYFF & RISING TIGER
