Beverley Place 6 preview | 27th April

13.50 – Yorkshire Wonder Horse Search Is On Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes – 5f

Anfaal made a nice introduction when a running-on third at Kempton on debut earlier this month but VITARLI showed plenty of speed and potential when second on debut and is fancied to defeat the favourite. She has a lot more to come and her speed will be an asset at this course, so she gets the vote.

Selections: VITARLI

14.20 – Surprise 60th Birthday Cliff Barber Handicap – 5f

LE BEAU GARCON shaped as though he needed his return and should improve on that performance from a handy mark here. He won his only start at this course, which is key, and should be a major player. He is effectively drawn well in stall 5 as well.

Selections: LE BEAU GARCON

14.50 – Andy Hill Birthday Celebration Novice Stakes – 1m1f

LISEO proved expensive to follow last year but he still ran well in each of his four starts and nearly all of his form has worked out well. He should have a lot more to give this year and is fancied to take advantage of the weight concession from Sea Flawless, who is his nearest market rival.

Selections: LISEO

15.25 – Alan McGuinness And Robin Lunness Memorial Handicap – 7f

IN THESE SHOES finished second in her first two starts before winning easily at Redcar. She has held her form well in two starts since and makes her return in a very winnable race. Her second on debut behind Secret Angel is the best form on offer, so she should be competitive with fitness unlikely to be an issue.

Selections: IN THESE SHOES

16.00 – Paul Norris Memorial Handicap – 1m

HORTZADAR might be the solid option here. He went very close at Ripon last week, where he was too far back in the early stages but stayed strongly late on and his trainer won this race last year. This eight-year-old is down to a career-low mark and is 11Ib below his last winning mark, so he is one of the main players.

Selections: HORTZADAR

16.35 – John Spearing And Rapid Lad Handicap – 1m1f

OLIVER’S ARMY ran a respectable race on handicap debut at Pontefract last time and should be able to build on that here. His third at Ayr in 2021 is amongst the best form in the field, so with improvement a distinct possibility, he has an excellent chance from a 3Ib lower mark than last time.

Selections: OLIVER’S ARMY
