Bangor Place 6 preview | 21st August

16.30 – Family Fun Evening Novices’ Hurdle – 2m3f

THE GALAHAD KID won both bumper starts last summer and although he was turned over on his hurdles debut when second, he went one better next time. The seven-year-old has plenty more to come and should be hard to beat in the opener.

Tips: THE GALAHAD KID

17.00 – Rachel Jones Memorial Handicap Chase – 2m1f

AL ZARAQAAN was very classy on the Flat and has taken extremely well to chasing, winning all four starts. His jumping has been excellent and despite going up four pounds, he definitely hasn’t finished improving yet and could keep his unbeaten record intact. SIR TIVO is in good form again at the moment though, winning two of his last three starts and can give the former a race.

Tips: AL ZARAQAAN, SIR TIVO

17.30 – IML Marine Management Novices’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m7f

SLATE LANE landed a gamble when scoring smoothly at Cartmel in June and even though that form is only ordinary, he has a lot more to come and could be hard to stop. CHAMP ROYAL gained a first win of his career at Worcester last time after a number of attempts and is probably the main danger to the former.

Tips: SLATE LANE, CHAMP ROYAL

18.05 – Stella Artois Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase – 3m

A good race this is. JESUITIQUE has been highly tried since joining this stable and has done well, winning three times and ran very well when second last time out at Cartmel. He could make his mark on chase debut with a lot more to come, while ANY NEWS only found a subsequent winner too good when last seen and should run another solid race with Harry Cobden in the saddle.

Tips: JESUITIQUE, ANY NEWS

18.35 – Becks Handicap Hurdle – 2m

MAX OF STARS has taken well to hurdles, winning both his last couple of starts since finishing second on debut and had to be heavily respected on his handicap debut carrying a tiny weight. MCGOWAN’S PASS doesn’t win often but is a place machine, hitting the frame in 13 of his last 17 starts and should again be thereabouts.

Tips: MAX OF STARS, MCGOWAN’S PASS

19.05 – Becks Handicap Hurdle – 2m

GIFTED ANGEL achieved a useful level of form on the Flat and confirmed the promise of his hurdles debut third at Stratford to score from the front back earlier this month and could be hard to pass if his jumping is better on handicap debut. GETAWAY TOM came close to completing a double at Newton Abbot and should remain competitive.

Tips: GIFTED ANGEL, GETAWAY TOM
