Ayr Place 6 betting preview | 9th November

13.15 – Virgin Bet Maiden Hurdle – 2m4f

SAM’S CHOICE could only manage third at Galway last time but there’s no doubt he brings the best form to the table and his trainer appears to have found him a great opportunity to get on the scoresheet. This race looks on the thin side so Jack Kennedy can make the first of his two rides a winning one in the opener.

Selections: SAM’S CHOICE

13.50 – Virgin Bet Novices’ Hurdle – 2m

BENZ got off the mark over hurdles in August and has since run well in defeat in both starts on the Flat. Jack Kennedy makes the rare visit to the Scottish track and his mount should be very competitive for the Gordon Elliott team here. I wouldn’t rule out GEGE VILLE though, who created a good impression when landing a C&D bumper on his debut 11 months ago and should have a nice future over hurdles.

Selections: BENZ, GEGE VILLE

14.25 – Virgin Bet Handicap Chase – 3m

DONNA’S DELIGHT is a course specialist, who ran well when second here last time and finds himself four pounds lower than when last successful which came at this venue. The eleven-year-old is proving that age is just a number and he’ll appreciate the arrival of any possible rain. With a good record over course-and-distance and knowing that he might get a soft lead, he can add another success to his CV at the Scottish venue.

Selections: DONNA’S DELIGHT

14.55 – Virgin Bet Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase – 2m4f

GRAND VOYAGE was progressive over hurdles last year, winning on his last two starts and he came close to making a winning chase debut at Carlisle on his return when narrowly denied in the final stride. The winner, So Scottish, is rated 132 in this sphere so the fact he got within half a length of him suggests he’s dangerously well-treated off 119 here. With that run under his belt, the top-weight has excellent claims back down in grade.

Selections: GRAND VOYAGE

15.25 – Virgin Bet Handicap Hurdle – 2m3f

The Nicky Richards-trained HARD IRON loved the step up in trip when easily winning over C&D on handicap debut last month and his trainer continues to go through a good run of form of late too. He’s been raised seven pounds for that success but he’s clearly open to a lot more improvement and is the one to beat.

Selections: HARD IRON

15.55 – Virgin Bet Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f

DOT COTTON ran well on her final start for Paul Nolan when second last time and, off a nice mark on stable/handicap debut, she should be thereabouts. ETERNALLY YOURS made the frame three times last year and should be sharper for her comeback outing, so has a chance too in this wide-open race.

Selections: DOT COTTON, ETERNALLY YOURS
