Aintree Place 6 preview | 9th December

11.10 – BoyleSports Money Back 2nd Meeting Novices’ Hurdle – 2m

RAFFLES WONDER shaped promisingly when fourth on debut in a Newcastle bumper before going one better at Sedgefield when beating a subsequent winner. He’s undergone wind surgery since a creditable fifth at Kelso and appeals most of these on hurdles debut. Dan Skelton’s GOONHILLY and INTO THE DARK are others to include in the opener.

Tips: RAFFLES WONDER, GOONHILLY, INTO THE DARK

11.45 – BoyleSports Best Odds Guaranteed On Racing Beginners’ Chase – 2m3f

GOLDEN SON was really consistent when trained in France and ran a decent race on his stable debut after a long layoff when second at Warwick behind Cheltenham Festival winner Iroko. He is the clear form pick and should be too good for these, with improvement on the cards. PEMBROKE only won a walkover last time, but he is a useful horse and should fill the second spot.

Tips: GOLDEN SON, PEMBROKE

12.20 – BoyleSports Acca Boost On Horse Racing Novices’ Handicap Hurdle – 3m

With a strong book of rides, Harry Cobden has a good chance of winning on MOONLIGHT ARTIST, who won easily at Exeter and should have more to come. He is also receiving weight from the whole field. MONOCHROMIX placed in all three starts over hurdles last season and will be suited to conditions, so Lucinda Russell’s can’t be discounted.

Tips: MOONLIGHT ARTIST, MONOCHROMIX

12.55 – BoyleSports Houghton Mares’ Chase – 2m3f

ZAMBELLA has a phenomenal record at this level and is ground-versatile. She’s a quality mare and a credit to connections. She has a good record when fresh, has gone well on heavy ground, and can repeat the dose of her win in this race two years ago. PINK LEGEND signed off last season with a Listed win at Perth and should go well on her return with her trainer in red-hot form at the moment.

Tips: ZAMBELLA, PINK LEGEND

13.30 – BoyleSports Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Chase – 2m3f

I am going to nominate WAR LORD as the only choice in this race. Daly Tiger and A Wave Of The Sea could run well, but the former is surely going to outclass these if he can perform to his best. He was second in a Grade 1 race over C&D early last year and returned with a fine third in the Haldon Gold Cup last time. He handles rain-softened ground very effectively, and with Harry Cobden booked to ride, he is handed quite a confident vote to gain an overdue success.

Tips: WAR LORD

14.05 – BoyleSports Becher Handicap Chase – 3m1f

HIGHLAND HUNTER won the London National at Sandown on this day two seasons ago off this mark and recently made a positive start for this stable when second at Kelso behind course specialist Elvis Mail. He has a good record when the ground is heavy in the description, which reads 11123122 and is respected. CELEBRE D’ALLEN is another horse who loves the mud and won very well here last time. He is very appealing, while MORODER is a great jumper who will be up with the early pace and has the form to play a leading role.

Tips: HIGHLAND HUNTER, CELEBRE D’ALLEN, MORODER
