LOCH CUAN got off the mark at the fourth time of asking when scoring by an easy five lengths over C&D last month. Even under a penalty, Gordon Elliott’s charge remains the one to topple and can confidently take the opener.

PASSENGERONTHESHIP completed a four-timer at Hexham when scoring by nine lengths just five days ago, so even under a penalty, the seven-year-old is undoubtedly the one to beat. He is strongly fancied to beat these off from the front once more.

STRATAGEM beat a very useful yardstick when winning at this course last month. Even off this 8lb higher mark, he remains well handicapped on past form. A repeat showing from last time ought to be see him prove difficult to stop with his sights lowered.

James Moffatt has a good record with his runners at this course so it’s hard to discount ZUMBI. He was a comfortable winner here last time out and the return to this longer trip should pose no problem. The nine-year-old can continue his rich vein of form with another big performance.

16.58 Cartmel Priory CofE School Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle
GOODWIN FACE is a strong-traveller and was confidently ridden en route to scoring at Plumpton last time out. He has been hit with an 8lb rise as a result, but should have plenty more to come and can double his tally over timber.
