10.45 It’s Racing Staff Week EBF ‘Confined’ Novice Stakes

WEEKEND ROAR could get Hugo Palmer and Oisin Murphy off to a winning start. He looked very green on debut at Salisbury but finished his race off strongly under tentative handling and is fancied to take a step forward. He can get the better of Mysterious Times in the opener.

11.15 Hallgarten Fillies’ Novice Stakes

Newcomer WOHEELA looks the part on paper and is interesting under Oisin Murphy for Ed Walker. I also think the other debutant VANILLA SKIES could go well, especially if the market speaks in her favour. Her connections can do no wrong of late, so she has to be feared.

11.45 Hallgarten Handicap

With his sights lowered, CHANGE SINGS might be able to defy top-weight. He is 3lb lower than when last successful and is dropped into this grade for the first time in two years. All four outings this year have offered encouragement, so he’s one to consider off this reduced mark.

12.15 Empress Fillies’ Stakes (Listed)

Hugo Palmer is having an excellent season with his two-year-old’s, so it was no surprise to see GLORIOUS GAME make a winning start to her career. She easily scored at Windsor and is bound to improve a lot for that experience. She can keep her unbeaten record intact under Oisin Murphy.

12.45 Hallgarten Partner Of The Jockey Club Handicap

HAWKSBILL has been winless since his two-year-old days but has some solid efforts in his book, including when second at Chester last summer off a 3lb higher mark. He could go well on his return, while AALTO can be excused for his latest run at York and is well worth another chance. He has won and finished a close second in the last two renewals of the Bunbury Cup over C&D and a repeat of either of those performances should see him beat these.

13.15 Hallgarten Fillies’ Handicap

LUNA CELESTE has made progress with each start, and after two runner-up efforts, she opened her account at Leicester. The step up in trip should suit and an opening mark of 74 looks really lenient. With more to offer, she earns the vote to register a second win of her career.
