Newcastle Place 6 Preview | 27th June
13.40 Education Network Handicap
In the opener at Newcastle, I’m interested in NIKOVO. The seven-year-old has a good record on the all-weather, especially at this venue being a C&D winner, and is only 2lb above his last winning mark. He’s a smart horse on his day and has been solid all year. KORKER and SUPIDO are others to consider in this wide-open opener.
Tips: NIKOVO, KORKER & SUPIDO
14.10 JenningsBet Chipchase Stakes (Group 3)
I think POET MASTER holds a better chance than his odds suggest. He is a rock-solid operator and his latest third At Epsom was boosted when the winner scored at Group 1 level at Royal Ascot. This Group 2 winner has placed several times in Group/Listed events and hasn’t been disgraced at the highest level either. I can see him running really well. SYMBOL OF HONOUR is selected as the back-up.
Tips: POET MASTER & SYMBOL OF HONOUR
14.40 JenningsBet Festival Northumberland Vase Handicap (Consolation Race For Northumberland Plate)
ST FAZ is having a really good year, winning four times and ran a good race when second at Thirsk last time out. He should be able to make a bold bid, while last year’s winner SAVROLA and recent Chester winner SHRIMP SHADY must enter the equation. Both of them have the form to play a big part in the outcome. The latter was a really good winner at Chester when last seen.
Tips: ST FAZ, SAVROLA & SHRIMP SHADY
15.15 JenningsBet Northumberland Plate
In the main event, RIDE THE THUNDER could be the answer. This four-year-old has built up a solid CV and shaped really nicely when third on his reappearance at Hamilton. He looks sure to improve for that return to action, while his previous second at Haydock is solid, too. I think he has the right profile for this contest and is open to improvement, so he’s worth a second look. KIRKNER and TEAM PLAYER also have a squeak.
Tips: RIDE THE THUNDER, KIRKNER & TEAM PLAYER
15.45 JenningsBet Over 200 Shops Nationwide Handicap
ANNAF has yet to fire on all four starts this year but was a Group 3 winner at Ascot last season and has a good course record which reads form figures of 14232. He finished runner-up when only beaten a neck in the Chipchase on this card twelve months ago and a repeat showing would undoubtedly see him heavily involved. He has a touch of class, while dual C&D winner POWER FIZZ has leading claims.
Tips: ANNAF & POWER FIZZ
16.23 Pertemps Network EBF Novice Stakes
Andrew Balding’s good record with juveniles must mean that PAPERCUT has to be respected on debut. KNOCK THREE TIMES has only found one too good on each of her couple of starts and should be thereabouts with that experience under her belt.
Tips: PAPERCUT & KNOCK THREE TIMES
