Newton Abbot Place 6 Preview | 23rd June

17.35 Proper Job Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle

SAINT POLO opened his account in tremendous style at Stratford in June, winning from the front by seven lengths, and is unpenalised for that success. With more to come, the six-year-old can double his tally over timber.

Tips: SAINT POLO

18.10 Celebrate Racing Staff Week Juvenile Maiden Hurdle

This is quite a difficult race to assess. However, AFFECTION was a multiple winner on the Flat in France, and shaped really well when third on stable debut at Salisbury two weeks ago. She ought to be competitive on her first start over hurdles.

Tips: AFFECTION

18.45 Happy Birthday June O’Dwyer Novices’ Hurdle

The Paul Nicholls-trained OUTMASTER absolutely bolted up over C&D on stable/hurdles debut seven weeks ago and connections waste no time in applying cheekpieces. He will face a tough opponent from Dan Skelton but is open to a lot more improvement and should go well.

Tips: OUTMASTER

19.15 EBCS Hideout Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle

MAKINBECON can score again under Callum Pritchard. He won with a bit more in hand than the winning margin suggested over track and trip 27 days ago. His stable is in good form and he’s only been raised 5lb, so he’s one to consider.

Tips: MAKINBECON

19.50 St. Austell Brewery Handicap Chase

The largely consistent LIMERICK LEADER won this race last year and hasn’t finished outside the top-two in all of his last six starts. He has a good record at this venue and was only just denied at Southwell two weeks ago. A repeat showing should see him pose another threat.

Tips: LIMERICK LEADER

20.20 Murray Group Gallop Handicap Hurdle

A chance is taken on I AM SPIDER MAN, who has become very well-handicapped (4lb lower than when last successful) and has made the frame on his last three starts. It would come as a surprise if he wasn’t able to go pretty close.

Tips: I AM SPIDER MAN
