KIBRIS could be the answer to the opener. He was useful on the Flat and opened his account in this sphere at Perth when last seen. This step up in trip does pose a question mark but he has more to come and should be able to at least make the places.

ALLIBABA made it two wins from two starts for this stable when winning at Warwick subsequently and must be classed as the one to beat given the form he is in at the moment. He should go well.

COSMIC SOUL is on a roll, winning his last three starts over timber having scored on the Flat before then. Brian Hughes is having his first ride back following a leg break but there’s no reason why this improving youngster can’t give him a good spin. He has excellent claims if able to continue the good run of form.

CAPTAIN COOL has won both starts over fences and warmed up for this race with a second over hurdles at Southwell five days ago. The six-year-old is having an excellent year and must be considered as a major player at a track that should play to his strengths.

SOMESPRING SPECIAL is now unbeaten in three starts under Ben Jones and goes in search of a third consecutive win having returned as a comfortable winner at Banger last time out. This is harder, but she’s thriving and should make a bold bid.

Plenty to consider but the marginal vote goes to IRA HAYES. He was a fortunate winner on his penultimate outing but ran a solid race when second last time out and a repeat showing should see him in the mix.
