Starzand ran well under a penalty when second last time out but I fear he might bump into another promising type in the shape of UBATUBA. Olly Murphy’s charge was so impressive when scoring over C&D on stable/rules debut and is likely to improve.

HAPPY AND FINE returned to winning ways at Warwick on New Year’s Eve and this past C&D winner must have leading claims in his follow-up bid. JIPCOT is quirky but capable on his day, while bottom weight NO TACKLE, who also boasts C&D-winning form, is another to note.

The vote is handed to SEAVIEW ROCK, who made a very positive start to his career when second to a smart prospect over C&D last month and must have every chance of going one place better. He is fancied to come good for Olly Murphy, who claimed this race twelve months ago.

TIGERS MOON had more up his sleeve than the bare margin indicated when winning at Southwell last time out (travelled well). That was his second win in four starts and I don’t think a 10lb should prevent another bold bid. He can continue to progress by making an impact.

LA GALLI BIER should be winning soon. He’s placed in all but one of his outings for current connections and has steadily improved in each of his three starts this term. He has proved no match for the winner on both chase starts but this isn’t a deep event, so he should be able to at least make the frame.

16.02 Watch On Racing TV ‘Hands & Heels’ Mares’ Handicap Hurdle

This is wide-open. However, I’ll take a chance on handicap debutant PEARL SMOKE. She’s not set the world alight in five starts but is eased in grade and should turn out to be better than a mark of 88. Nathan Andrews can also take off an additional 3lb as well.
