Nicely played! A tale of 2 monster Colossus cash outs
We welcomed in the return of club football with our a bumper weekend of pools, including our weekly French Ligue 1 Pick6 pool. The pool would eventually be won by 1.5 units, however nobody would be joining Millionaire’s row with all ticket holders cashing out 100% of their tickets before the completion of the pool. However, there were two fantastic cash outs.
Over 13,000 units began the pool, which kicked off with a 1-0 Lyon away win on Friday. Successfully predicting a 1-0 Nancy win and 1-1 draws in Rennes vs Angers & Guingamp vs Bordeaux, one smart player was now only two legs away from winning a share of £1,000,000 and then a free chance at another £1,000,000 in the bonus fund. Little did our players know then that they would soon be receiving two incredible cash outs.
When to Cash Out
Going into leg 5, a Marseille 1-0 home victory was needed to progress to the final leg. Half time came with the score at 0-0 and there was still a favourite’s chance. Just as the game looked doomed to finish goalless, on loan Swansea forward Bafetimbi Gomis provided the cross which Rolando delightfully finished off in the 81st minute. Full time result: 1-0 Marseille. Leg 5 successfully predicted. The Colossus Bets customer was now 1 leg away from £1,000,000 plus bonus leg opportunity.
The stage was set at St Etienne for the final leg with a goalless draw the requirement. Half time came & the score was 0-0, 45 minutes of football away from the Promised Land. But our player received a cash out offer which he couldn’t turn down, £137,142. Was he mad to not keep at least part of the ticket, for a 100% cash out would also forfeit eligibility for the bonus leg? Well it seemed this gentlemen can predict the future because 18 minutes into the second half and Nice scored. Disaster averted and a £137,142 reward in the process for what ultimately was a LOSING ticket!

When Not to Cash Out
It doesn’t always turn out so well however, as another of our Ligue 1 Millionaire punters found out with their cash outs. This punter also correctly predicted the first 5 legs. The offer was £4,658 cash out, and they took 100% of it. Their prediction for the final leg? A 1-0 Nice victory. Missing out on a £66,667 jackpot win and a chance to make a free prediction at a bonus leg for potentially another £100,000. Cash out isn’t always a blessing! Partial cash out however on this occasion could have been the way forward (yes we do love a good aftertime)!
So a tale of 2 cash outs. 1 played to perfection, another not so much. Has there ever been anyone perhaps so distraught as to bank £4,658 from a £1.60 ticket before!
