1000 Guineas Betting Preview: Millisle should contend for the Guineas

After getting 5/6 in his last two betting previews, Steven Dowler is determined to go one better on 1000 Guineas day at Newmarket to land the Boosted £10,000 Place 6. If you agree with his 1000 Guineas betting preview then join his Syndicate.

1000 Guineas Betting Preview

13.15 – Class 5 Maiden – 6f

Godolphin have a good record with debutants, and FUTURE VISION is interesting. He is related to some very good horses, and Oisin Murphy has been booked to ride.

NOBLE DYNASTY is the choice of William Buick and was the most expensive cost in Europe when bought by connections. He is a half brother to the high-class Barney Roy and could well turn out to be above average.

Meanwhile, MODERN NEWS is also from the Charlie Appleby camp and is the son of the high-class Sharmadal. He has a good pedigree, and Barzelona is an interesting jockey booking.

Selections: NOBLE DYNASTY, MODERN NEWS, FUTURE VISION

13.50 – Buckhounds Listed Stakes – 1m4f

COMMUNIQUE loves it around here (4-4) and was last seen winning a Group 2 comfortably over C&D when beating a much stronger field then he will face here. The ground will be perfect for him, and the presence of the top-class Ryan Moore in the saddle makes him a solid selection.

SECRET ADVISOR is a smart sort who has been in good form this year at Meydan over 1m3f including a Group 3 last time. He does need minor improvement dropping down in trip and conceding weight all around here, but we can’t underestimate him based on his overall record (four wins and three places from ten races).

Selections: COMMUNIQUE, SECRET ADVISOR

14.25 – Class 2 Handicap – 1m2f

Andrew Balding has his team in fine form since resumption of racing and GOOD BIRTHDAY had a good last season which included a win off a slightly higher mark than his current one and was last seen finishing a good third in the Cambridgeshire off this exact mark. On the basis of that form, he won’t be far away at all under the champion jockey.

MASTER THE WORLD can go well at a huge price. He has been highly tried throughout his career and will enjoy the return to handicap company dropping down in class. He has won some major events in his career, and his last handicap win was off a mark 103. He is 9 pound lower for this much easier race off 94 which is a career low mark and he has always run well at this venue having summarised his overall form.

Master The World’s last two visits to this course saw him competitive in Group 2/3 company, so this class 2 handicap will be much easier for him, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the veteran bounce back to form and shock the field by winning this or run into a place.

Selections: MASTER THE WORLD, GOOD BIRTHDAY

15.00 – Pretty Polly Fillies’ Stakes Listed – 1m2f

There is two I really like for this race. The first of those being QUEEN DAENERYS who is a daughter of the mighty Frankel. She has shown good form in all three career starts to date, winning here two starts ago before keeping on well to finish a creditable sixth in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile. Today’s race is a big drop down in class for her and she has undergone wind surgery since, meaning she must have strong credentials of going close.

My other selection is the smartly-bred SNOW SHOWER who made a bright impression on debut when powering away to score in a class 2 maiden. She took her time to warm to the task but was well on top off her opponents at the finish, and Sir Michael Stoute is keen to see her over this 1m2f trip based on the fact she is related to plenty of winners who have scored over the distance. Snow Shower is very interesting here and I am more than hopeful she will make an impact under Jim Crowley.

Selections: QUEEN DAENERYS, SNOW SHOWER

15.35 – Qipco 1000 Guineas Stakes – 1m

The Jessica Harrington trained MILLISLE will be on many people’s shortlist courtesy of her brilliant success in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes and even though she is yet to try a trip beyond six furlongs, one can assume she will show further progression here, because the way she was finishing her races off last season suggests she will stay the trip and the booking of Oisin Murphy is interesting.

The clear market leader is QUADRILATERAL who will bid to provide Roger Charlton with a first Classic success since 1990. The daughter of the mighty Frankel remained unbeaten last season when recording a battle-hardened success in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile over course and distance. If she is near that level of form again here, then she is clearly the one to beat.

Selections: MILLISLE, QUADRILATERAL

16.10 – Class 2 Handicap – 1m

ZHUI FENG is a rock-solid handicapper who won the 2017 Royal Hunt Cup at 28-1 off a mark 100. He has run well and won other real nice races off higher marks in the past, and actually has a good record fresh including a close-up second in the 2018 Victoria Cup carrying top-weight off a mark 106 and therefore he is going on our ticket.

My other choice is WAIT FOREVER who has been in good form early this year in Dubai and was unfortunate in a Group 1 when last seen having clipped heels unseated rider. He returns to the UK in much calmer water so he should go well in this race and rounds off our preview for the Guineas.

Selections: ZHUI FENG, WAIT FOREVER
