York Win 6 preview | 14th May
14.10 Sky Bet Race To The Ebor Jorvik Handicap
SEE HECTOR brings some quality group form to the table and could go well off top weight. Dual course winner MARHABA THE CHAMP has a squeak, while STRESSFREE has threatened on several occasions to win a valuable pot and has every chance of winning the opener should things work out for him. ALMOSH’HER is another to note.
Tips: SEE HECTOR, MARHABA THE CHAMP, STRESSFREE & ALMOSH’HER
14.42 Churchill Tyres Handicap
COMMANCHE FALLS normally competes in stronger races at this course and was third in a hot handicap last season off a 5lb higher mark, so he’s sure to make a bold bid with his latest pipe-opener under his belt. TWO TRIBES shaped very well when third on his return at Newmarket and was a place in front of the former at this course last season off this mark, so he’s another to consider. The improving CHANGE SINGS is another worth a second look.
Tips: COMMANCHE FALLS, TWO TRIBES & CHANGE CHINGS
15.13 1895 Duke Of York Clipper Stakes (Group 2)
INISHERIN didn’t show his best on his final two starts last season but a repeat of his Commonwealth Cup success at Royal Ascot should be too good for this field. He beat the classy Kalpana on his return early last year, so fitness won’t be a concern and Ryan Moore has been booked to ride. Having undergone wind surgery since last seen, I think he has a good chance of getting back to winning ways. ELITE STATUS goes well when fresh as well though, so he’s included for back-up purposes.
Tips: INISHERIN & ELITE STATUS
15.45 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes (Fillies’ Group 3)
SMOKEN is unbeaten in two starts and having clocked a quick time when scoring on her debut at Nottingham, she then followed up with a cosy Listed success at Newmarket. With more to come this season, this Oaks entry could be set for a huge campaign. I think she’s Ralph Beckett’s best chance of a winner at this fixture, but fellow unbeaten runner GO GO BOOTS is not to be taken lightly on her turf debut. WHIRL is also noted.
Tips: SMOKEN, GO GO BOOTS & WHIRL
16.18 Conundrum HR Consulting Handicap
JOLLY ROGER has placed twice and one once from three starts and Ryan Moore is a fascinating booking for the team. This course should suit this son of Dark Angel and he should go well. GALLANT made some nice late progress when fourth on handicap debut at Newmarket last time out and could have a part to play in the outcome.
Tips: JOLLY ROGER & GALLANT
16.55 British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes
BALLISTIC MISSILE has a lovely pedigree and Shane Foley has his only ride on the card for a trainer who can ready one. Any market support could be a good guide, while UTMOST RESPECT also represents a yard that has had good success with newcomers and can be included.
Tips: BALLISTIC MISSILE & UTMOST RESPECT
