York Place 6 Preview | 15th May
13.45 Yorkshire Equine Practice Handicap
HARRY THE ROGUE has made a positive start for this stable, running well at both Newcastle and Musselburgh, and is of interest back on the turf. His rider can also take off a handy 7lb, so he’s worth consideration.
QUEST FOR FUN has buckets of course form in the book, with plenty of placed efforts and a win off similar or higher marks and has run well on both outings this season. If the eight-year-old can avoid trouble-in-running, I’m confident he will go close.
Tips: HARRY THE ROGUE & QUEST FOR FUN
14.20 Sky Bet Fillies’ Stakes
An intriguing contest. PACIFIC MISSION could be hard to beat. She has finished second in Group 2 and Group 1 events on her last couple of starts and could offer decent value despite going up against unexposed, interesting rivals.
The hat-trick seeking SO REGAL is making giant strides though and might be able to make her presence felt at this level. This is a deep renewal but hopefully one of these two can get the job done.
Tips: PACIFIC MISSION & SO REGAL

ASHNAK shaped well when third at Ripon last time out and must be worth a second look off a pound lower mark. He is the choice of Danny Tudhope, which is always a good sign.
CASTLE STUART has held his form well since scoring at Musselburgh last July and went close over C&D (sole course start) off a 2lb higher mark last August. That is strong form, so a repeat performance could see him involved.
REGAL ULIXES has been solid on the all-weather since last seen on the grass and will find this easier than when seventh in a Group 2 event at last year’s Royal Ascot.
He is very interesting having caught the eye the last two times. I can see him making a serious impact with more to come.
Tips: ASHNAK, CASTLE STUART & REGAL ULIXES
15.30 Design Tonic Out Of This World Spaces At The Races EBF Marygate Fillies’ Stakes
PRINCESS D’ORANGE looked like a filly with an enormous amount of ability when dominating her opposition on debut at Beverley.
Her raw speed could make it difficult for the rest to catch her if she adopts similar tactics, so I can see her proving hard to beat for the Tudhope and O’Meara combination.
LOVER GIRL is two-from-two and must be respected, along with impressive Goodwood winner ARMOR SUPREME.
Tips: PRINCESS D’ORANGE & LOVER GIRL
16.05 Boodles Yorkshire Cup Stakes (Group 2)
A cracking edition of the Yorkshire Cup, with EPIC POET fancied to go one place better than last year. That is the best form on offer, as he split the top-class pair Rebel’s Romance and Sweet William, who have both boosted the form in a huge way since. Following two good runs in Meydan this year, the seven-year-old makes plenty of appeal.
AMILOC has a good record when fresh (two-from-two) and is down in grade on his return, so he must be respected and is selected as an alternative.
Tips: EPIC POET & AMILOC
16.40 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Handicap
OLD IS GOLD will undoubtedly improve from his comeback sixth at Sandown and should be competitive off a pound lower mark.
DESERT TREASURE has won both starts and she could be thrown in here off a mark of 83. She has an absence and experience to overcome but she’s done nothing wrong on both outings to date and has every chance for her in-form stable.
Tips: OLD IS GOLD & DESERT TREASURE
