Worcester Place 6 Preview | 20th August
16.50 Step Into Luxury With Purple Granite Handicap Chase
This is a tricky opener but ZACONY REBEL appreciated the first-time blinkers when scoring at this course last month. He scored by a comfortable four lengths despite hanging left on the run-in, suggesting he’s a horse that is ahead of the assessor. If he can back that performance up off this 7lb higher mark, I see no reason why he can’t follow-up.
Tips: ZACONY REBEL
17.25 Chris Coley Big Birthday Year Handicap Chase
Top-weight TIGER ORCHID loves this venue and this three-time course winner was unfortunate to be mugged later on over track and trip having idled badly when in the clear jumping the final fence. He still remains well handicapped off this 4lb higher figure, given he scored over track and trip last June in a hotter race off a pound higher mark.
Tips: TIGER ORCHID
17.55 Ron Hyett Memorial Handicap Hurdle
The hat-trick seeking MR LE PHILOSOPHE won in very good style at this course two starts back prior to doubling his tally at Stratford 11 days later. As a result, James Owen’s in-form contender has been hit with a 7lb rise, but he’s far from finished improving and must enter calculations.
Tips: MR LE PHILOSOPHE
18.30 Peter Dawson Forget-Me-Not Novices’ Hurdle
HIGH FIBRE has done very little wrong so far in his career and has yet to finish out of the frame in six starts in this sphere. He won here in May and ran well when runner-up on handicap debut when last seen. Having undergone wind surgery since last time, this six-year-old must have every chance. SERVICE MINIMUM is another one with serious consideration, having placed in a stronger event last time out and represents a stable that does well at this time of year.
Tips: HIGH FIBRE & SERVICE MINIMUM
19.00 Happy Birthday Fergal O’Brien Mares’ Maiden Hurdle
JUST A HEARTBEAT has improved with each outing and following two good efforts in defeat in bumpers, including when runner-up at Ascot in February, she filled the same spot on her hurdles debut last time out at Fontwell. With more to come, Harry Fry’s charge has leading claims.
Tips: JUST A HEARTBEAT
19.30 Martin Keighley Racing Club Handicap Hurdle
ELUSIVE FEELING did show more than previous starts when seventh at Uttoxeter last time out and could be let in lightly on handicap debut off a mark of 91. Ben Pauling and Ben Jones have built an excellent reputation combined and this mare should go well in what is a poor contest.
Tips: ELUSIVE FEELING
