Southwell Place 6 Preview | 28th August

17.45 Racing League Race 36 Handicap

SAY WHAT YOU SEE has gone close on both starts since scoring at Ayr in early July and a repeat of his head-second at last week’s Racing League should see him involved off an unchanged mark. SUGARLOAF LENNY defied a 3lb higher figure when successful over track and trip last November and is another to consider.

Tips: SAY WHAT YOU SEE & SUGARLOAF LENNY

18.15 Racing League Race 37 Handicap

A three-time winner already this year, BRAZILIAN ROSE was beaten only a neck into second at Hamilton six days ago and tackles the all-weather off a pound lower mark. She should be thereabouts under David Allan, who is riding as well as ever of late. TENNESSEE GOLD finished third in a stronger race last time out and must enter calculations off the same mark.

Tips: BRAZILIAN ROSE & TENNESSEE GOLD

18.45 Racing League Race 38 Handicap

ROHAAN had an off-day at Pontefract last time out but he’s still capable of good form and has only found one too good on his last three starts at this venue. His mark is continuing to fall and a reproduction of his unlucky second here in April should see him competitive. ORMOLULU has a good record at the course and is next best.

Tips: ROHAAN & ORMOLULU

19.15 Racing League Race 39 Handicap

ZEALANDIA doesn’t win that often but he’s often been in the places and I see no reason why he won’t be again. The eight-year-old came very close to winning at last week’s Racing League when third in a three-way finish and looks poised to pose another threat. MILLER SPIRIT also has the credentials to make an impact.

Tips: ZEALANDIA & MILLER SPIRIT

19.45 Racing League Race 40 Handicap

TRANSPARENT scored over C&D in February and has remained consistent since, placing on his last three starts as well. This youngster is open to further improvement and should give another solid account of himself. INDALO backed up his penultimate success with a highly respectable fourth at Goodwood earlier this month and is worth a second look.

Tips: TRANSPARENT & INDALO

20.15 Racing League Race 41 Handicap

BOWERCHALKE is unbeaten in three starts on artificial surfaces and won over this track and trip back in July. She found things much tougher at Newmarket last time out but cannot be dismissed given her record on the all-weather. I’ll also add in LIBERTY BEACH. She finished third in a hotter race last time out and is much respected.

Tips: BOWERCHALKE & LIBERTY COACH
