Salisbury Place 6 preview | 16th August

13.45 – Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Apprentice Handicap – 6f

From a pound lower mark in this lower grade, she’s shortlist material. TWILIGHT DANCER is on the same mark as when third at Epsom and could resume winning ways after winning at the same course two starts ago.

Tips: STORYMAKER, TWILIGHT DANCER

14.15 – Michael Brunton Memorial British EBF Novice Stakes – 6f

MISTER SKETCH was only beaten a neck when second on debut at Newbury and although the form has yet to be properly tested, he might be capable of going one better with more to offer. I don’t think this is a strong race for the grade so he is a solid option.

Tips:  MISTER SKETCH

14.45 – Michael Brunton Memorial British EBF Novice Stakes – 6f

FLAVOUR MAKER looks the part on paper and Roger Varian is prone to doing well with his two-year-old debutants so he’s respected. FINBAR FUREY also represents a stable who does well with newcomers and he could make an impact. The market is probably the best guide as to what we might expect.

Tips: FLAVOUR MAKER, FINBAR FUREY

15.20 – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Stonehenge Stakes – 1m

I like the chances of both debutant winners in this race. ARABIC LEGEND contested a strong Maiden at Newmarket and despite not being at all that comfortable on the track, he had too many gears for the rest. He has the potential to be very classy, while SPANISH POET won with plenty in hand on the testing ground at Sandown and while conditions will be different here, he has more to come and could also rank higher.

Tips: ARABIC LEGEND, SPANISH POET

15.55 – Molson Coors Pembroke Handicap – 1m

RACING DEMON couldn’t land the hat-trick when seventh of 16 at Newbury but won a better race over C&D on his penultimate start and could get back on track. PACO’S PRIDE has filled the frame the last two times in this grade and would only need to repeat either of those performances to go well in this event.

Tips: RACINGS DEMON, PACO’S PRIDE

16.30 – British EBF 40th Anniversary Upavon Fillies’ Stakes – 1m1f

The feature race and I will recommend AMEYNAH who looked as though she retained her ability when returning from a lay-off to finish fourth in a Group 3 at Ascot. She will improve from that performance and her previous sixth in last year’s 1000 Guineas is good form, too. This might have been the plan for a while and she might be too good for these.

Tips: AMEYNAH
