Pontefract Place 6 Preview | 21st April
13.42 Racing TV Sky Channel 424 EBF Restricted Novice Stakes
CYDNEY SWEENIE represents a yard that did very well with this age bracket last season and this nicely-bred filly could go well. JOLLY GOOD FELLOWS shaped well when third on debut at Wolverhampton and could fare best of those with experience. SEA MIRAGE could be another worth a second look in the opener.
Tips: CYDNEY SWEENIE, JOLLY GOOD FELLOWS & SEA MIRAGE
14.17 Constant Security Services Fillies’ Novice Stakes
Kevin Ryan’s LADY YOUMZAIN looked potentially above-average with the way she went about her business on debut at Beverley last year and should prove hard to beat unless one of the newcomers do turn out to be pretty decent.
Tips: LADY YOUMZAIN
14.52 Napoleons Casino Bradford Handicap
RECIPROCATED is dropped in class for his seasonal reappearance and could be difficult to beat off a fair mark of 91. ALAMINOS was a little disappointing at Haydock last time out but it’s too early to write him off and he won well on his debut last August, so he could make an impact.
Tips: RECIPROCATED & ALAMINOS
15.27 RIU Hotels And Resorts Handicap
ANTRIM should be able to improve on his recent run at Newcastle and his trainer has been firing on all cylinders recently, so this four-year-old, who has more to come, could pose a threat. I’ll also include SAVVY VICTORY, another with fitness on his side and good form in the book. He is a C&D winner and is very well handicapped on the pick of his best efforts. His class could well see him back in the winners enclosure in spite of being drawn wide, which is the only concern.
Tips: ANTRIM & SAVVY VICTORY
16.02 Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Save Lives Handicap
YORKSHIRE GLORY is chasing a remarkable seventh win in succession, and while all of those wins have been on the all-weather, I think he’s more than capable of making a bold off only a 2lb higher mark on the grass. PALMARIAN could improve on previous efforts with his sights lowered and is selected as the back-up option.
Tips: YORKSHIRE GLORY & PALMARIAN
16.32 Into The Sky Pontefract Marathon Handicap
ACHNAMARA hasn’t shaped too badly on his last three starts and must be about to cash-in off this career-low mark at some point. All of his wins and placed efforts have come off higher marks or in better events, so he’s definitely worth a chance.
DIFFERENT DRUM won over hurdles when last seen and shaped accordingly when fourth on his sole previous course outing, so he’s another to merit consideration.
Tips: ACHNAMARA & DIFFERENT DRUM
