Player lands huge five-figure win in Correct Score pool

A Colossus player landed an extraordinary win on Wednesday night when they took down the Rollover Correct Score – Pick 4 pool which had reached a massive £31,132.

The eight line Correct Score ticket began on Tuesday evening as Manchester United entertained their fierce rivals Manchester City in the EFL Cup and Reims hosted Strasbourg in the French League Cup.

Having permed the 3-1 correct score for City in addition to any other draw, the player clearly anticipated a high scoring affair and wasn’t disappointed.

City took a 3-0 lead into half-time meaning the player need a Manchester United comeback of sorts. United would either have to win the second half by a single goal or fight all the way back to a draw. So wretched was their first half performance though, that the player must have feared they would concede even more.

They didn’t, however. The Red Devils pulled a goal back through Marcus Rashford in the 70th minute and the match ended 3-1, getting the first correct score in the bag.

Meanwhile in Reims, despite the hosts suffering a 59th minute red card, they were able to hold on for a goalless draw, which just happened to be the player’s only selection in that leg of the ticket.

After two legs, the player had two correct scores and things were looking extremely positive.

The ticket resumed the following night with a further pair of league cup encounters from either side of the channel. This time Lyon were taking on Brest and, in England, it was Leicester vs. Aston Villa.

Clearly sensing two similar encounters, the player opted for the same pair of correct scores in each leg, 3-1 to the home side in addition to 1-1 in both matches and was rewarded well when goals from Moussa Dembele, Houssem Aouar and Jean Lucas helped Lyon to a comfortable 3-1 win over their opposition.

Three correct scores were in the bag and it was all down to Leicester and Villa. Leicester were heavy favourites so, when Aston Villa took the lead in the 28th minute, it was an extremely positive start given the two results that the player had selectied. If Leicester could respond by claiming either a draw or a 3-1 win, the ticket would be home.

The match wore on and, despite dominating, Leicester couldn’t find a way through. The 70th minute ticked over and the player must have been growing concerned that Villa would manage to frustrate them for the full 90 and they would be a single correct score short of the jackpot.

Fortunately, in the 74th minute, Kelechi Iheanacho was set up by Jamie Vardy and made no mistake with his finish. The score was 1-1 and, with no further strikes, that was how it finished. The ticket had won!

15,363 Units had been reduced to just 1.22, a 99.9% reduction. The player had beaten the pool and landed a phenomenal £26,063 return for their initial £16 stake, a 1,628x increase!

Congratulations from all of us at Colossus on an incredible effort!
