Perth Place 6 Preview | 21st October
13.15 Perth & Kinross Foodbank Mares’ Maiden Hurdle
HUNTERS SPRING won once and placed twice in three bumper starts last season and the filly looks more than capable of making a serious impact on her hurdles debut. Derek Fox has also picked her over stablemate Chanontry Point, so that should provide a bit of confidence as to what might happen.

The standout choice to me is SLEEDAGH, who had shaped with so much promise when runner-up on bumper debut here in April. The winner (Wilstar) is well thought of by Olly Murphy, so with the five-year-old’s attentions turned straight to hurdling, Lucinda Russell’s and Michael Scudamore’s charge can go one better.

I’ll take a chance on THE RESDEV TYKE, who has finished third on both starts to date and is eased in grade on his return. This isn’t a strong event, so with more to offer, this handicap debutant could be set to make an Impact.

This is an intriguing race despite only three runners. The vote goes to the Olly Murphy-trained KINGSTON PRIDE. He won three of his five starts for Nicky Henderson and has the makings of being a high-class chaser. The six-year-old can make a mockery of a mark of 132 with bigger targets on the horizon.
Tips: KINGSTON PRIDE

The consistent BURGUNDY MAN has made the frame on his last six starts and should be winning soon. He’s slowly creeping up the handicap, but this race lacks depth, so he won’t get many better opportunities to succeed, especially on chase debut.

KAP BOY goes well when fresh and must be well treated off a mark of 109 on stable debut for Olly Murphy. Some of his best form reads well in the context of this event and his stable is in flying form, so he should be ready to get seriously involved.
Tips: KAP BOY
