TIMELY SALUTE made the perfect start over hurdles when scoring by 12 lengths over C&D in July and is bound to have more to come. He can put his experience to good use and see off interesting hurdle debutant Moment Of Light.

EXPLODE was comfortably beaten into second when last seen in this sphere but has been in good form on the Flat since and won’t have many better opportunities to open his account over timber. Harry Cobden’s mount can make his class count by landing the spoils.

15.00 St. Austell Brewery Handicap Chase

The thriving SAINT POLO is fancied to make it four wins on the bounce. He was well beaten on his chase debut but has been relentless over hurdles of late and is worth another chance back over the bigger obstacles. He can get the better of the consistent Miss Denver.

 15.30 Devonport Royal Dockyard Social Club Handicap Hurdle

MY GIRL KATIE has won four of his six chase outings, including two at this course, and she’s only gone up 4lb for winning very easily last time out. I doubt she’s reached her ceiling, so she’s selected to see off fellow last-time-out winner Jager Time.

16.00 Par Inn Handicap Hurdle

EDELAK can beat Arctic Voyage. The four-year-old has won four of his last five starts and would have won on his penultimate outing but for falling late on when set to bolt up. He recovered to win back at the same course when last seen and is strongly fancied to keep up his excellent strike rate for the Skelton’s.

16.30 Grandad Swales Happy 80th Birthday Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase

JETTY MAY was pulled up on chase debut at this course in June but won over hurdles here in April and did run well for a long way last time. She is Paul Nicholls’ only runner on the card, so a much better performance looks imminent.
