Newmarket Win 6 preview | 5th May
13.50 William Hill Pretty Polly Stakes (Fillies’ Listed)
CAROLINA REAPER won on the other course here last season very easily, and she will find this easier than the last two assignments she has been set. If she stays this new trip, there’s no reason why she can’t go close. KALPANA has won two of her three starts, while WINTER SNOWFALL won at Chelmsford last time out.
Tips: Carolina Reaper, Kalpana, Winter Snowfall
14.25 William Hill Dahlia Stakes (Fillies’ & Mares’ Group 2)
CAENARFON ran a huge race to finish fourth in the 1000 Guineas on this card last year and followed that good effort up with a third in the Epsom Oaks. She is a classy filly and should be tough to beat. ASTRAL BEAU has plenty of course form and should go well, while Group 2 Meydan winner SILVER LADY is another to note.
Tips: Caernarfon, Astral Beau, Silver Lady
15.00 William Hill Handicap (Heritage Handicap)
NEW LONDON made the frame in two listed races here last season and has made the frame in a Group 1 St Leger. He is interesting on his return to handicaps. INTENSO should be fitter from his comeback third at Kempton, while the well handicapped BERKSHIRE ROCCO, who has the class to make a serious impact, must also be shortlisted.
Tips: New London, Intenso, Berkshire Rocco
15.40 Qipco 1000 Guineas Stakes (Fillies’ Group 1) (British Champions Series)
FALLEN ANGEL has won three of her four starts and was extremely impressive in winning the Group 1 Moyglare at the Curragh when last spotted. She is clear of these on ratings and should be hard to beat. SACRED ANGEL will love the ground and could surprise a few at large odds, while PORTA FORTUNA was second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita and should be thereabouts.
Tips: Fallen Angel, Sacred Angel, Porta Fortuna
16.15 Tattersalls 40,000 EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes
There is not a lot of form to go on here, but JAKARTA represents a stable that does well with newcomers, and this well-bred filly could be ready to run well. MOUNTAIN BREEZE is the choice of Will Buick for Charlie Appleby, so she must be included. RIVER SEINE’s handler won this race two years ago, so she completes the list.
Tips: Jakarta, Mountain Breeze, River Seine
16.50 Tattersalls 40,000 EBF Novice Stakes
Richard Hannon’s THE ACTOR shaped very promisingly when narrowly denied over C&D last month in second, and given that his trainer has won two of the last four renewals, this son of Harry Angel could easily go one place better.
Tips: The Actor
