Newmarket Win 6 preview | 4th May

1.10 William Hill British EBF Ellen Chaloner Stakes (Fillies’ & Mares’ Listed)

FUNNY STORY is penalised for her C&D success on her final start last term, but she goes well fresh, likes the track, and should make a bold bid. HERITAGE HOUSE has caught the eye here the last two times, including when she finished a luckless fourth in the Nell Gwyn. With a clear run and a similar performance to last time, she must go close. SILENT WORDS is another to consider.

Tips: Funny Story, Heritage House, Silent Words

13.45 William Hill Extra Place Races Handicap (Heritage Handicap)

This track might not be ideal for ROHAAN but his class could carry him through the race. He is well handicapped, has his favourite ground, and must be thereabouts. NOBLE STYLE was below form in his final two starts last season, but this former Group 2 winner could go well on his handicap debut. APOLLO ONE and MUMS TIPPLE have the course form to make an impact.

Tips: Rohaan, Noble Style, Apollo One, Mums Tipple

14.20 William Hill Suffolk Stakes (Heritage Handicap)

BOPEDRO has a good record at this venue, and he’s lower in the handicap than when he finished a creditable third in the Cambridgeshire over course and distance last September. I think he’s a massive player. DUTCH DECOY is left on the same mark when he came close to winning here last month and is feared most. MAJESTIC also likes the course and is another to add to the list.

Tips: Bopedro, Dutch Decoy, Majestic

14.55 William Hill Palace House Stakes (Group 3)

MITBAAHY finished with a flourish to finish fourth in a stronger race than this at this course last time out, and with that outing under his belt, this classy five-year-old should be hard to beat, with Jamie Spencer retained. Last year’s winner, VADREAM, won’t let her crown go lightly and should be competitive, with an encouraging return fourth at Bath under her belt.

Tips: Mitbaahy, Vadream

15.35 Qipco 2000 Guineas Stakes (Group 1)

The hot favourite, CITY OF TROY, who was unbeaten in three starts last season, has the potential to be one of the best Aidan O’Brien has ever trained. He has looked so good in winning all three of his starts and is impossible to leave off the shortlist. Clive Cox’s GHOSTWRITER, who is also unbeaten in three starts, is rated very highly by his handler and could give the favourite the most to think about.

Tips: City Of Troy, Ghostwriter

16.10 William Hill Epic Boost Handicap

REAL DREAM scored twice last season and could have more to offer this season. He won on his return last season and is expected to be in the mix under Ryan Moore. YOUTHFUL KING has run with credit the last three times on the all-weather and is an even better horse on the turf, so he’s very much one to note.

Tips: Real Dream, Youthful King
