Given that his stable has won this several times, the well-bred EARL OF ROCHESTER must go on the shortlist. His stablemate LEAD ARTIST is related to several Group 1 winners and is another to note, while Group 1 entries PADESHA and FIRST CONQUEST could also turn out to be above average. Plenty of these have leading claims, so hopefully one of the selections wins!

15.00 Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes (Group 3)
This is a deep Group 3 sprint contest. Karl Burke has a couple of strong chances. MARSHMAN was just edged out at Doncaster last time out and should go well. SPYCATCHER has gone close in Group 1 races in two of his last three starts and is the one to beat.

EBEN SHADDED won very easily on his debut prior to finishing third in his next two starts, including in a Group 1 race last time out on ground that wouldn’t have been ideal. He is down in class; he will appreciate the step-up in distance and should be extremely hard to beat, with more to come. SONS AND LOVERS impressed at this course on his debut, and an even bigger effort could be on the cards. He is held in high regard by his handler.

16.10 Rossdales Maiden Fillies’ Stakes
ROLICA was an expensive purchase for connections and shaped promisingly when she finished third on her debut at Nottingham. She will encounter much better ground this time around and must be considered a serious player. PAINITE has only found one too good in each of her two starts, and a repeat of her debut second behind the 109-rated Jasour would be good enough to see her get off the mark.

ENDLESS VICTORY showcased a sharp burst of speed to make a successful debut at Wolverhampton. This Derby entry could turn out to be top-class, so he must be included on the shortlist. MEYDAAN also scored impressively on his debut at Newcastle and is another to include.
