Newmarket Place 6 Preview | 14th April
13.15 Alex Scott Maiden Stakes
MAKERSTOUN is from a smart family and was an expensive purchase for connections. It would come as no surprise to see him get involved on debut for a shrewd stable. BIG SNOOPY is another interesting newcomer to note and it will be worth seeing if the market speaks in his favour. An intriguing opener.
Tips: MAKERSTOUN & BIG SNOOPY
13.50 Gabriela Rose London British EBF Novice Stakes
Hugo Palmer has won this race in the past, so ADAAY OF SCARLETT could be up to posing a threat with Oisin Murphy booked to ride. I’ll also include SHADOW KING, representing a stable that has a fantastic record with two-year-old’s and might turn out to be above-average like our other choice.
Tips: ADAAY OF SCARLETT & SHADOW KING
14.25 Federation Of Bloodstock Agents EBF Conditions Stakes
The fact that William Buick has picked TALK OF NEW YORK over Maximized could speak volumes. He returned as a beaten favourite at Meydan last time out but is undoubtedly better than that and could get back to winning ways, though RICHIE’S ROCKET wasn’t beaten far in a Listed event when last seen and could prove capable of better.
Tips: TALK OF NEW YORK & RICHIE’S ROCKET
15.00 AR Legal Collections Handicap
CRAZEE ICON only found one too good on her last couple of outings last season and finished strongly at Goodwood when last seen. She is likely to be stronger both physically and mentally this season, so she earns the vote to go very close. STARTLED is another to consider. He did well to finish as close as he did in a higher-class race last time out and connections have deployed William Buick. Off only a 3lb higher mark back on the grass, Richard Hughes’ charge makes plenty of appeal.
Tips: CRAZEE ICON & STARTLED
15.35 Racing TV Handicap
DYONISOS won three times in France last year and ran really well when third in Meydan when last seen. He’s back on British soil off a fair mark and William Buick will take the ride. He’s fancied to go well, and so is WE NEVER STOP. He’s 3lb lower than when last successful and Jack Callan can take off an additional 5lb, so we can expect him to give a bold showing of himself.
Tips: DYONISOS & WE NEVER STOP
16.10 National Stud Handicap
WE’RE GOOSERS finished runner-up on his first couple of starts before easily getting off the mark at Southwell when last seen. He should go well, while BLUE COURVOISIER has made a good start to his career, winning in debut before chasing home a smart prospect at Bath. I think he’s a leading player, along with ST ANTON, who has placed on all three starts and makes his handicap debut off a lenient figure of 82.
Tips: WE’RE GOOSERS, BLUE COURVOISIER & ST ANTON
