With a rating that is in the high-90s on the Flat, ARTHURIAN CABLE made an eye-catching hurdles debut when third over C&D last month, and should do even better with that experience under his belt. FASOL was last seen finishing runner-up in a Group 3 race on the Flat in France, and could turn out to be above average in this sphere for trainer Paul Nicholls.

OFFICER TO STATE was also useful on the Flat when in the care of Andre Fabre and ran well for a long way on his hurdles debut over C&D last month. He is sure to do better in this easier race and can make a serious impact. INTO THE PARK shaped well at a big price when third at Taunton and should be thereabouts with more to come.

14.00 – Newbury Welcomes Sky Sports Racing Junior ‘National Hunt’ Hurdle
Harry Fry’s VALADON confirmed the promise of his hurdles debut second at Exeter by going one place better back at the same venue last month and could be capable of defying a penalty here. His main danger could be one-time bumper winner KABUKI, who could go well if he takes to this discipline.

14.35 – Remembering Bob Olney Novices’ Handicap Chase
GAZETTE BOURGEOISE went close to making a successful reappearance when only finding one too good at Ffos Las and could go one better if she can repeat that performance here. KING’S THRESHOLD ran a sound race when second on his chase debut at Kempton and is seemingly the choice of Tom Bellamy. He should have more to offer.

15.10 – Ray Dalfsen Mares’ Handicap Hurdle
GAYE LEGACY is proving largely consistent over hurdles and has turned in a pair of good runner-up efforts the last two times. She’s a definite for the shortlist, while GREAT SNOW, who made the frame twice last year in stronger company, cannot be dismissed. WYNN HOUSE is back on her last winning mark and could enjoy the return to hurdles with conditions to suit.

ISSAR D’AIRY clocked a decent time when making a successful return/chase debut over C&D last month. A repeat showing is likely to see him stay unbeaten over fences. HYSTERY BERE has a win and two seconds from three starts over fences and Hafences,bden has been booked to ride. He is the backup choice.
