The banker on the card is EXCELERO who should be extremely hard to beat in this easier race than he’s faced in two starts to date. He only found subsequent Triumph Hurdle third Salver too strong on his hurdles debut before finishing fourth behind Sir Gino in a Grade 2 race at Cheltenham in January. Both of those pieces of form are top-class when put in context here, and he should be able to open his account with more to come.

With a 43% strike rate at this course, trainer Richard Bandey’s FLINTARA must enter the equation. That form is working out well, so she’s definitely one to consider. PHILLAPA SUE is an interesting chase debutant, and with conditions to suit, she could make an impact.

SOUTH TERRACE finds himself 12Ib below his last winning mark and is worth another chance despite being pulled up here last time. SISTER MICHAEL was down the field at Huntingdon last time out, but finished runner-up three times in succession beforehand and could be hard to beat. WOODIE FLASH will be partnered by a 10-lb conditional and represents a trainer in good form, so he’s feared.

BILLYTHEREALBIGRED is unbeaten in two starts in handicaps and was impressive on his stable debut ten days ago when scoring at Warwick by nearly 40 lengths. He should be difficult to stop in his hat-trick bid. EARTH CRY won both of his bumper starts, and although he’s not quite translated that form to this sphere as of yet, he is interesting on his handicap debut.
