DEAR RALPHY opened his account very impressively at Chepstow last week, and, if in similar form, the follow-up success should be on the cards. SHEWEARSTHEWELLIES has two wins and a second from three starts in handicaps and won easily over C&D when last spotted. She should be competitive.

Tips: DEAR RALPHY, SHEWEARSTHEWELLIES

Despite it being nearly two years since we last saw SANDY BROOK, he could be ready to continue where he left off. He placed in all four starts over hurdles (tougher company) and won and placed in a pair of bumpers. His trainer knows how to prepare one, so he’s definitely shortlisted. RAMORE WILL ended last season on a high and has C&D-winning form, so he merits consideration.

Tips: SANDY BROOK, RAMORE WILL

Unfortunately, Fred ran disappointingly last time out, but his previous second would be good enough to go close. He has made the frame numerous times off higher marks, so she should be thereabouts. EMBOLDEN has placed in all of his last three starts and is 3Ib below his last winning mark, so the six-year-old is shortlisted.

Tips: FORTUNATE FRED, EMBOLDEN

If his jumping passes the test, Alan King’s hurdles debutant, Paradias, should have too much speed and natural ability for these. This four-year-old is rated 95 on the flat and won a valuable race back in that sphere in June off a mark of 90. Alan predominantly does well with similar types, so he is a pretty confident choice to succeed under the guidance of Gavin Sheehan.

Tips: PARADIAS

Passing Well won twice over hurdles and shaped encouragingly on his return/handicap chase debut at Ascot when second. He will have needed the run, plus that race was a lot stronger than the one he will contest here. Eva Rose made an impressive chase debut over C&D on his reappearance, and she must be considered under her penalty for her in-form jockey and trainer.

Tips: PASSING WELL, HEVA ROSE

Coco Mademoiselle comfortably won her stable debut in a bumper race at Wetherby before making a positive start to her hurdling career when she finished second at Stratford despite being turned over at short odds. She should go close, while Ben Pauling’s BLUELLA BRESIL has finished runner-up in both bumper starts and makes the cut for the shortlist.

Tips: COCO MADEMOISELLE, BLUELLA BRESIL
