Leicester Place 6 preview | 1st February

13.25 – Leicester Racecourse Ideal Self-Hire Wedding Venue Claiming Hurdle – 1m7f

US AND THEM clearly isn’t the horse he once was but he is still a class horse when on-song and the combination of a drop in grade with a good rider booked to ride could see him bounce back here. WEEBILL won this 12 months ago and has been aimed at the race again. He must have solid claims in his repeat bid.

Selections: US AND THEM, WEEBILL

14.00 – Best Ticket Deals Online At leicesterracecourse.co.uk Novices’ Handicap Chase – 2m6f

FLANN beat a dual subsequent winner here in November and that form is the best on offer. He was unfortunately brought down when last seen but should cope with the return to the longer trip and is the one to beat. ON THE BANDWAGON ran a fair race when second over C&D last time and has to be considered as the main danger from the same mark in this weak race.

Selections: FLANN, ON THE BANDWAGON

14.35 – EBF British Stallion Studs ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle – 2m4f

GUTHBERT DIBBLE has twice made the frame at this course over shorter and should come into his own over this longer distance. He is a big player with improvement to come, while GEORGES SAINT cannot be discounted either despite returning a beaten favourite into second the last twice. He will appreciate the conditions.

Selections: CUTHBERT DIBBLE, GEORGES SAINT

15.10 – Leicester Racecourse Ideal Conference Venue Handicap – 2m4f

JACAMAR won here last season and ran a good race when sixth of 16 in a Grade 3 at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day. He is back on his last winning mark and should be a big player in this easier race. MOONLIGHTER showed a lot of heart and resolution to fend off his nearest challenger at Chepstow last time and remains well-treated on historical form.

Selections: JACAMAR, MOONLIGHTER

15.45 – racingtv.com Golden Miller Mares’ Handicap Hurdle – 1m7f

GUARDIA TOP has not been seen for a very long time but he’s joined a trainer who is going well of late and this seven-year-old is well-treated on previous form in this sphere. MRS GRIMLEY opened her account over hurdles last month and has to be considered a major player on her handicap debut for the in-form Ben Pauling team.

Selections: GUARDIA TOP, MRS GRIMLEY

16.20 – Next Meeting At LeicesterRaces Thursday 16th February Handicap Hurdle – 2m4f

ACCIDENTAL LEGEND has progressed well since switching to handicaps, winning his last two starts, and while he has gone up 5Ib for the latest of those wins, he has a good chance. Of the others, CLICK AND COLLECT normally runs a good race and was a good second last time. I know he has an absence to overcome but could make the frame.

Selections: ACCIDENTAL LEGEND, CLICK AND COLLECT
