Newcomer to this sphere, SENATOR, is interesting for Jamie Snowden and could turn out to be the biggest danger.

WELCOM TO CARTRIES was deemed good enough to contest a Grade 1 over C&D on just his second start in this sphere, where he finished fourth to The Jukebox Man. This is a far easier task and he’s only been nudged up 4lb for that latest win at Sandown, so he’s strongly fancied to see off an exposed bunch.

KALIF DU BERLAIS was disappointing when only fourth in the Haldon Gold Cup on his seasonal reappearance but better will be expected now and he could bounce back. If he does fluff his lines again, MISTER CHEWY could be the one to capitalise, as he’s more than capable at this level.

BEAT THE BAT shaped with promise when third on chase debut after seven months off five weeks ago and is back over hurdles off a nice figure. He is only a pound higher than when a solid fourth in last season’s County Hurdle and must have a strong chance. DOUBLE POWERFUL and CAPTAIN TEAGUE enter the mix.
