Kempton Place 6 preview | 14th January

12.20 – Play Coral ‘Racing-Super-Series’ For Free Fillies’ Juvenile Hurdle – 2m

ARCLIGHT won very nicely on her hurdles debut despite having things go wrong and, with that experience under her belt, Nicky Henderson’s filly can follow-up in the opener. REGALLY BLONDE showed good form on the Flat and if she can translate that form to this sphere, she should be thereabouts. VIRTUOSO can’t be discounted either, who also shown a fair bit on the Flat and is respected on her hurdles debut.

Selections: ARCLIGHT, REGALLY BLONDE, VIRTUOSO

12.55 – Coral Get Closer To The Action Novices’ Hurdle – 3m

MAKIN’YOURMINDUP has looked in good form in winning both his latest two starts and should have plenty more to offer for the Nicholls/Cobden combination. He could easily land the hat-trick, while COLLECTORS ITEM should find this much easier than the Grade 2 he contested at Cheltenham last time. It is hard to see past the front pair in the market, so I’ll opt for both in the hope one of them can land the spoils.

Selections: MAKIN’YOURMINDUP, COLLECTORS ITEM

13.30 – Coral Racing Club Handicap Chase – 3m

KITTY’S LIGHT hasn’t been at his best so far this term but he has the class to win this off a mark that’s within his compass. He is his trainers only runner on the card and his jockeys only ride here, so if he is on a going day, he has a better chance than his odds suggest. TILE TAPPER has finished second in both starts this term and is only a pound higher than his latest runner-up effort over C&D, so he’s next best.

Selections: KITTY’S LIGHT, TILE TAPPER

14.05 – Coral Silviniaco Conti Chase – 2m4f

Paul Nicholls has two good chances here. PIC D’ORHY has massively improved in the jumping department and has won both his starts this season. He is the one to beat and is the choice of Harry Cobden as well. SAINT CALVADOS should be fitter from his recent effort at Ascot and could beat his stablemate if he’s anywhere near his best. It is hard to split the pair who are rated the same on 157 too.

Selections: PIC D’ORHY, SAINT CALVADOS

14.40 – Coral Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle – 2m5f

SCARFACE is upped in class but he’s won his last two starts and was deemed good enough to contest the Ballymore at the Cheltenham Festival. He gets into this off a low-weight and conditions will hold no fears, so he should make a bold effort on handicap debut here. Harry Fry’s DUBROVNIK HARRY is back over hurdles and has a chance off this weight and mark.

Selections: SCARFACE, DUBROVNIK HARRY

15.15 – Coral Bet Bundles Handicap Chase – 2m4f

SLATE HOUSE hasn’t fired in two starts this season but the return to this track could sparkle a revival as he’s won three of his four starts here, including a Grade 1. He is only a pound above his last winning mark, which was here, so he could defy top-weight. QUICK DRAW is the only one of these to have completed last time out and resulted in a victory, so he’s much respected.

Selections: SLATE HOUSE, QUICK DRAW
