Haydock Place 6 betting preview | September 1st

13.40 – Together Personal Finance Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap – 1m3f

RICHARD R H B is on quite a bit of a losing run but he shaped well on his return here last time when fourth and he’s now twelve pounds below his last winning mark, so he’s a player. RED DEREK has posted three runner-up efforts this season and his latest run can be ignored at Redcar. He should get a nice pace to aim at in this event and likely to be finishing his race strongly if they go a good gallop. He should be thereabouts.

Selections: RICHARD R H B, RED DEREK

14.10 – Common Sense Lending Handicap – 1m3f

I am taking a risk on the outsider of the field, MYTHICAL, who’s predominantly been highly tried so far in his career, given he was rated as high as 106 two years ago and was deemed good enough to contest the Derby that year by Aidan O’Brien. He hasn’t been in the same form in the UK since leaving Ireland, but he’s become dangerously well-treated and cannot be discounted given the back-class he possesses. I wouldn’t rule out LOVE IS GOLDEN though, who is also rarely seen in this grade and has a chance if able to get back to his best.

Selections: MYTHICAL, LOVE IS GOLDEN

14.40 – Auction Finance EBF Novice Stakes – 6f

SAKHEER was an expensive buy for connections and shaped like a winner-in-waiting on the back of an eye-catching second on debut at Windsor. He kept on well in the closing stages to only be beaten half-a-length that day and, with the prospect of more to come, Roger Varian’s promising youngster is taken to go one better here.

Selections: SAKHEER

15.10 – Together Commercial Finance EBF Novice Stakes – 7f

CASTLE WAY only found a stablemate who had the benefit of experience too strong when second on debut at Newmarket three weeks ago and might take some stopping here with that run under his belt. GARDEN ROUTE is also well-bred and is related to several Group One winners, so he could go well on debut, especially if the betting vibes speak in his favour.

Selections: CASTLE WAY, GARDEN ROUTE

15.40 – Development Funding Nursery – 6f

ZABBIE improved to make a winning nursery debut at Doncaster last month and ran well when third in a better race at Newmarket last time. She has leading claims under the assistance of William Buick. James Horton’s DRAFTED has left plenty to work on after three starts and has to be considered with more to offer.

Selections: ZABBIE, DRAFTED

16.15 – Lake View Gordon Lord Byron EBF Conditions Stakes – 6f

All five runners are very good horses but DUBAI POET is the highest rated of these and comes out best at the weights. He’s yet to score this year but ran a cracker when third in the Jersey at Royal Ascot and matched that form when second in the Hungerford Stakes when last spotted. Now having his sights lowered, he’s the one to beat and can therefore deservedly get a win on the board this year for Roger Varian.

Selections: DUBAI POET
