Goodwood Win 4 Preview | 1st August

Goodwood WIN 4 – Day 4

14.30 Coral Golden Mile (Heritage Handicap)

TRIBAL CHIEF looks very well handicapped based on his pair of runner-up efforts to Bullet Point at Newmarket, and with conditions coming in the favour of David Menuisier’s charge, I think he’s a big player under Christophe Soumillon. I also like the claims of AFENTIKO, who is also on a handy mark having just his third handicap start, while REAL GAIN is another to consider at even bigger odds.

Tips: TRIBAL CHIEF, AFENTIKO & REAL GAIN

15.05 King George Qatar Stakes (Group 2)

TIME FOR SANDALS is dropping back in trip and grade and handles soft ground, having pushed a subsequent Group 1 winner close in France. The Commonwealth Cup winner should arguably be favourite on those pieces of form, so she is fancied to prove that success to be no fluke. I’m also expecting KERDOS to bounce back to form, so he can be played as cover but I really fancy the former.

Tips: TIME FOR SANDALS & KERDOS

15.45 Regent Seven Seas Cruises Bentinck Conditions Stakes

This is a tricky race. However, last year’s winner HAUNTED DREAM had no luck whatsoever at Royal Ascot last time out and might be worth another chance. CASH is a useful horse on his day, so it would come as no surprise to see him in the mix. DIVINE KNIGHT is the rank outsider of the field, but looked good when scoring on debut and would eliminate plenty of units if he could pull off a miracle.

Tips: HAUNTED DREAM, CASH, DIVINE KNIGHT

16.20 Hawes & Curtis Nursery

GOLDEN BROWN is going from strength to strength and did very well to nearly beat subsequent Super Sprint third Sands Of Spain when last seen. The ground is an unknown, but surely a mark of 78 has underestimated him. He can run well under the services of Kieran Shoemark. Last-time-out winner TRY STORM CAT is worth a second look with Rossa Ryan taking the ride for Charlie Johnston.

Tips: GOLDEN BROWN & TRY STORM CAT
