Galway Betting Preview

17.00 – Guinness Galway Tribes Handicap Hurdle – 2m

Noel Meade’s LUNAR POWER has some really strong form in the book in which he was twice placed in Grade 2/Grade 3 events and wasn’t beaten far when fourth in another Grade 2 last time. He makes his handicap debut off a fair mark of 130 and, with Bryan Cooper booked to ride, he’s a serious contender. VULTAN also makes his handicap debut off a nice mark and was impressive when winning by ten lengths the last time he was seen in this sphere. He could pose a threat in the opener.

Selections: LUNAR POWER, VULTAN

17.30 – James’s Gate Irish EBF Median Auction Maiden – 7f

This is a wide-open maiden event with not a lot of form to go on but Dermot Weld’s KEEP IN TOUCH made a very promising debut when fourth at Naas and, with lots more to come, she should make an impact here. SAN ANTON also ran well when fourth on debut too and shouldn’t be discounted at a big price.

Selections: KEEP IN TOUCH, SAN ANTON

18.00 – Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Chase – 2m6f

This is a high-quality handicap. BUSSELTON won three times over fences last season and has reached the frame in all over starts in this sphere. Joseph O’Brien’s charge is consistent and was last seen winning on the Flat last month. He has to be considered. FAN DE BLUES wasn’t far behind the former last time and has a good chance for team Mullins.

Selections: BUSSELTON, FAN DE BLUES

18.35 – Guinness Handicap – 1m4f

DAME RAPIDE has won two of her three starts this year and ran well when fourth last time. Off the same mark this time round, she’s of some interest. CASK MATE shaped better than distance beaten suggests when fifth of 20 in handicap at this course four days ago and could go very well here over this shorter distance.

Selections: DAME RAPIDE, CASK MATE

19.10 – Guinness Irish EBF Fillies Maiden – 1m4f

ARK is probably the most solid option in this race, who hasn’t really progressed, but she’s consistent and ran her usual solid race when last spotted. She’s a player in this grade. ALAROOS is going the right way and while she remains winless, this looks a decent opportunity for her to finally open her account.

Selections: ARK, ALAROOS

19.40 – Arthur Guinness Handicap (50-70) – 1m

ROCKBURY LAD caught the eye when fourth over seven furlongs here on Monday, shaping better than the result for a second consecutive start and would have finished a lot closer with a clear passage. If he gets a clean runaround this time, he could easily be up to gaining compensation off the exact same mark.

Selections: ROCKBURY LAD
