Ffos Las Place 6 Preview | 16th March
14.30 Plan A Conditional Jockeys’ Mares’ Handicap Hurdle
QUEEN OF STEEL won this race twelve months ago very easily and might be able to repeat the dose based on recent efforts. She came close to making it two wins on the bounce when runner-up at Southwell last month and is fancied to get the better of Rest Of The Best, who is the obvious danger in the opener.
Tips: QUEEN OF STEEL
15.00 Good Luck Barry Murphy Handicap Chase
PORT OF STARBOARD has a good record at this venue and remains dangerously well handicapped on the pick of his form. He’s made the frame here on numerous occasions, with most handicap efforts coming off higher figures, so this could be the day that he finally ends his long losing sequence. The nine-year-old has plenty in his favour.
Tips: PORT OF STARBOARD
15.30 Celtic Subaru Novices’ Hurdle
WHISKEY YANKEE won at Ascot on hurdles debut and was far from discredited when fifth in a Grade 2 event at Haydock last month. With his sights considerably lowered, Sam Thomas’s charge ought to prove hard to beat. He can confirm latest form with the reopposing Lon Chaney.
Tips: WHISKEY YANKEE
16.00 Sarnau Stables Joins Barry Murphy Racing ‘Welsh Gold Cup’ Handicap Chase
FORTUNATE MAN hasn’t been at his best in two subsequent outings since scoring at Aintree but he will appreciate the ease in grade since finishing fifth in the Eider Chase and his team has been in flying form of late. He must have a chance, while FACE D’MUSIC, who arrives into the reve in good form, is another that should go well.
Tips: FORTUNATE MAN & FACE D’MUSIC
16.30 Blackmores Handicap Hurdle
EL GAVILÁN has been on a roll since fitter with cheekpieces, completing three wins on the spin with a heavy-ground victory over C&D last month. He’s up another 5lb but he clearly likes it here (3-3) and he thumped a subsequent winner on his penultimate start. With more to come, the five-year-old is fancied to make it four wins on the bounce.
Tips: EL GAVILAN
17.00 Turf Services Mares’ Open Maiden NH Flat Race
GALATRONA scored at the second time of asking in Irish points and this well-bred mare must be taken seriously on rules debut. She has so much potential and connections might have found her a good opportunity to open her account. Another interesting newcomer under rules is MIRABELLO for Cheltenham Festival winning team Jamie Snowden and Gavin Sheehan.
Tips: GALATRONA & MIRABELLO
