Exeter Place 6 preview | 25th March
14.20 Hall Down Hill Novices’ Handicap Chase
TIME TO BITE scored over C&D back in December and was last seen winning by 22 lengths at Plumpton. He has a 10Ib higher mark to contend with, but MOORLAND RAMBLER won over hurdles here last year with a 6Ib higher mark and could pose a serious threat.
Tips: TIME TO BITE, MOORLAND RAMBLER
14.50 Exeter Novices’ Selling Hurdle
MERMAIDS CAVE finished second in her only previous start in the UK, and although her recent efforts have only been moderate, she is worth an interest on her debut for her new stable. HARD RAIN should appreciate the ease in grade and must be respected at this low level.
Tips: MERMAIDS CAVE, HARD RAIN
15.20 Dr Hennis 1833 Novices’ Handicap Hurdle
MAHLAND left his two previous runs behind him when he finished second at Ludlow last month and must come under serious consideration on his handicap debut. SUN JOY has only been nudged up 3Ib for winning at Huntingdon last time out, and he is open to improvement.
Tips: MAHLAND, SUN JOY
15.50 City Of Exeter Handicap Hurdle
CLASSIC MAESTRO has only finished outside the top-two once in all starts under rules, with two wins to his name, and is back over hurdles after being beaten on his chase debut. He is the one to beat, though the recent C&D winner, PIRATES’ TALE, is likely to give him plenty to think about.
Tips: CLASSIC MAESTRO, PIRATES’ TALE
16.20 Kenn Handicap Chase
BAMPTON STAR made a winning chase debut over C&D earlier this month when fitted with first-time cheekpieces, and, with further progression to come, he can follow up. Of the others, I like GINGERBRED, who only found one too good in a stronger race last time out. He can make his presence felt.
Tips: BAMPTON STAR, GINGERBRED
16.50 Totnes And Bridgetown Races Company Ltd Open Hunters’ Chase
THE WOLF isn’t straightforward, but his best form would entitle him to beat these. He sets a clear standard on his hunter-chase debut, and he should go well. YIPPEE KI YAY made an emphatic hunter chase debut over C&D last week and might yet rank higher, so he’s feared most.
Tips: THE WOLF, YIPPEE KI YAY
