Chester betting tips: Sir Maximilian to continue fantastic course record

Steven Dowler is in unbelievable form at the moment after landing 6/6, 5/6 and 6/6 in his last three Place 6 previews. He’s aiming for another winning day in the £3,000 Best Dividend Guaranteed Place 6 at Chester on Friday. Read his Chester betting tips and join his Syndicate.

13.40 – Novice Stakes – 6f

An interesting race to start Friday’s Chester betting tips with half of these yet to run. But with Kevin Ryan’s good strike-rate at the course, I think debutant ELLAND ROAD BOY could be ready for this, and therefore, offers some decent each-way value in a race that won’t take a lot of winning.

Mark Johnston never goes unnoticed here where he always seems have a winner or two. His runner SHEM ran well to finish third on debut and with room for further improvement, his experience could prove decisive up against mostly newcomers.

Selections: ELLAND ROAD BOY, SHEM

14.10 – Nursery – 6f

It’s hard to oppose the majority of this field who clearly hold leading claims. With that being said, MERRY SECRET is improving with each run and only found a couple of decent sorts too strong last time out, who are now rated 80 and above. He needs more off today’s handicap mark, but Tom Marquand will give him full assistance in receipt of weight from his market rivals.

SANDS OF TIME has been highly tried since winning on debut and was actually sent off just 10/1 for the Group two Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. She could never land a blow in a Listed race when last seen, but this clearly much easier than her last two assignments, therefore, she can’t be dismissed lightly.

Kevin Ryan has an astonishing 71% place strike-rate at this track so that bodes well for his three-time placed horse BERGERAC who has every chance of going one better with normal improvement to come and with Tom Eaves coming here to ride him.

Selections: MERRY SECRET, SANDS OF TIME, BERGERAC

14.40 – Nursery – 7f

CHASE THE DOLLAR was extremely disappointing when only finishing second on debut having been sent off 2/5f but he comfortably made amends at Ayr last time beating two subsequent winners. His opening handicap mark looks fair giving him excellent claims of winning again.

CALCUTTA CUP was highly tried on debut when finding the Woodcote Stakes at Epsom happening all too quickly for him. He looks to be learning his trade well with two good performances in defeat the last twice and today’s race is evidently much easier than last time while remaining on the same mark.

Selections: CHASE THE DOLLAR, CALCUTTA CUP

15.10 – Handicap – 7f

SIR MAXIMILIAN might be a veteran nowadays, but he simply saves his best for this track with course form at this grade reading 1, 3 and 1 while also taking into account his two other performances here at a higher level. He’s run three creditable races since reappearing and he’s slipped back to below his last C&D winning mark. He’s well drawn, has his ground and has every chance of boosting his fantastic course record for connections.

LINCOLN PARK was pulled out of a race here last week in order to compete in today’s race presumably when it became apparent the ground would be too quick for him. He’s drawn nicely to attack from an early stage here given his prominent style of racing and I’m confident he goes close to winning this being back on his last winning mark.

Selections: SIR MAXIMILIAN, LINCOLN PARK

15.40 – Handicap – 5f

This will no doubt be run at an honest gallop from flag-fall, and it is likely speedster BOSSIPOP will dictate matters on the front-end. He’s already a winner over C&D which is an obvious plus to have on side around this tight course, and despite that being from a 3lb lower mark, it was in a significantly higher graded race in comparison to today’s event.

Tim Easterby’s reliable sort has performed admirably well in defeat in class 3’s the last three times indicating his turn might be around the corner, and providing David Allan can grab an early prominent position on the consistent seven-year-old, there is a good chance he can capitalise off what is still an attractive mark along with being in good form so far this campaign.

KINDLY has arguably been doing most of her racing over further, but her form over this trip is very strong so it comes as no surprise to see her try her hand at the distance again. She’s gone well off slightly higher marks previously at this sort of level over this trip and her last two performances clearly provide evidence that she’s on an upward curve of form which entitles her to the utmost respect today from a good slot in stall 4.

Selections: BOSSIPOP, KINDLY

16.10 – Handicap – 5f

I’m not all that inclined to venture too far from the top of the weights. SHE CAN BOOGIE hasn’t been at her best this year, but her record at this track reads an impressive 2, 1, 3 3, 1, 2 and 4 with her last three handicap marks coming off 88, 90 and 3 which clearly states that she’s a course specialist with plenty of knowledge. She’s 7lb below her last winning mark here and Richard Kingscote’s presence in the saddle adds further interest. If she can break away smartly and get towards the front from her stall 10 berth, you would be optimistic of her outperforming the market expectations.

POWERALLIED loves it around here as well being a six-time course winner with his last three victories here coming off higher marks than the one he’s been given today. In fact, his whole course record is exceptional and his last win here was off a 4lb higher mark in a couple of grades higher than today’s race. His three performances this year don’t inspire much confidence, but his track knowledge, attractive mark and being drawn well in 5 makes him an extremely dangerous horse to dismiss knowing that he’s capable of better form than this grade.

LIHOU has been knocking on the door for a while suggesting he will capitalise off this sort of mark sooner rather than later for his shrewd handler. His last victory was actually at this track off a 1lb higher mark in class 3 company, for which makes him well-handicapped to be heavily involved in today’s contest. Stall 8 shouldn’t pose an issue so he’s another that must be added to our ticket.

Selections: SHE CAN BOOGIE, POWERALLIED, LIHOU
