Best Bournemouth Players in the Premier League – top 7

Bournemouth shocked the footballing world in 2014 when they reached the Premier League for the first time in their history. Under the guidance of Eddie Howe, The Cherries enjoyed five strong seasons in the English top flight before finally succumbing to relegation. With Eddie Howe having now left the club it feels like the end of an era so were the best Bournemouth players during their stint in the top flight?

7 best Bournemouth players in the Premier League

Steve Cook

An ever-present member of the squad since their days in League One, no-one has served Bournemouth quite like Steve Cook. An old-fashioned centre-back, Cook’s strong physical presence helped nullify attacks and put some of the best strikers in the world off their game.

Boasting a demanding aerial presence, Cook also helped regularly clear crosses away from the box in addition to occasionally chipping in with some important goals for Bournemouth. Perhaps not the most naturally talented player on this list but certainly one of the best Bournemouth players in their history, let alone since they came up.

Charlie Daniels

Embracing the ever-changing and challenging role of full back, Charlie Daniels has been one of the most consistent members at Dean Court. His pace has made him a useful creative presence in attack while his strength has been an impressive addition at the back.

Also winning a Premier League Goal of the Month award for a sensational strike across the goal from an extremely narrow angle, Daniels has always been a fan favourite whilst playing for Bournemouth.

Lewis Cook

Despite playing as a box to box midfielder, it’s hard to believe that Lewis Cook has never scored a Premier League goal for Bournemouth since joining in 2016. Despite this, Cook has given everything for The Cherries, notching plenty of assists as well as acting as extra cover for the defence when possible.

His consistent form under Eddie Howe earned him his first England cap in 2018 and he will no doubt be one of the key players needed to help them return to the top flight.

Nathan Ake

Often linked with a move to a bigger side, Man City look set to recuit Nathan Ake for £40m this summer. Though clearly destined for bigger things, Ake was still determined to give his all whilst playing in Dorset.

After a successful loan spell in 2016, Ake made the permanent move from Chelsea before the start of the 2016/17 season and instantly connected with the crowd. A strong aerial presence made him a threat from set pieces as well as in his own box and the distinctive dreads ensured that the Dutchman was always noticeable to fans.

Josh King

It’s fair to say that Josh King was a surprise signing when he joined Bournemouth ahead of their move to the Premier League. However, the gamble paid off for Eddie Howe as the Norwegian proved to be one of their deadliest goal threats every season in the top flight.

Boasting lightning pace and a calm demeanour under pressure, King consistently found the net for The Cherries, hitting double figures in both the 2016/2017 and 2018/19 seasons. A career best 16 goals in the 2016/2017 season earned him attention from scouts around the world and helped him secure the Gullballen 2017 award – the most prestigious award in Norwegian football.

Ryan Fraser

There has been much talked about the skills that Ryan Fraser possesses. With a good eye for a pass, a cool composure in the opposition half and the ability to find the net from any distance, the Scotland international has proved his match winning ability time and time again. He had a breakthrough season in 2018/19 scoring 7 goals and also claiming the club’s Player of the Year Award. Becoming a free agent at the start of July, he has caught the eye of several big clubs in both England and Europe and won’t be without a club for long.

Callum Wilson

Having overcome several serious injury threats, Callum Wilson has proved why he has been a regular goal threat for The Cherries. Not only did he become the first Bournemouth player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League, he has often finished as the club’s top scorer at the end of each season.

He enjoyed his best return in the 2018/19 season scoring 14 goals in 35 games and bhas become a regular member of the England squad since debuting back in 2018.
