THE JEWELLER’S PET won back-to-back C&D events last February, and while he’s found life tougher over fences, the top weight is back over hurdles off his last winning mark and could make a bold bid. VELVET VULCAN was marginally denied over C&D last month and is another that could be in the mix if in similar form.

Tips: THE JEWELLER’S PET & VELVET VULCAN

BALLYMACKIE left all previous form behind when making a winning stable debut at Leicester in December and an 8lb rise shouldn’t be enough to stop him from following up. He’s Olly Murphy’s only runner on the card, so the long trip up to Scotland should prove worthwhile.

APACHE TRIBE shaped promisingly when fifth on debut at the Galway Festival before easily opening his account at Listowel eight weeks later. This Irish raider should be able to develop into an even better hurdler and is fancied to make a winning start in this sphere.

FROM THE CLOUDS won twice over hurdles a couple of years ago and has been lightly raced since. The nine-year-old, however, returned from a 19-month absence to finish second over track and trip in November and backed that up when fourth over the same C&D when last seen. I can see him being competitive back in handicap company, while KAHAVARI has gone close several times to suggest his turn is near.

The hat trick seeking SHOESHINE BOY has multiple wins over C&D, including the last two times and a 4lb for the latest of those wins is hardly a burden given the form he’s in. I do like the look of BIGLESISBACK though, who has finished runner-up on her last three starts and should have more to offer on just her second handicap start.

Tips: SHOESHINE BOY & BIGLESISBACK

TOROSAY hasn’t been at her best the last two times but she finished second over C&D in November and a repeat performance should be good enough to see her competitive. SWALLOWS SONG remains winless over hurdles/fences but has placed numerous times off higher marks in stronger events and will appreciate the drop into this grade.

Tips: TOROSAY & SWALLOWS SONG
