Ayr Place 6 betting preview | September 27th

13.14 – Virgin Bet Apprentice Handicap – 1m

Richard Fahey’s HARTSWOOD hasn’t been seen to best effect the last two times but he was up against pretty stiff opposition and he’s been eased four-pounds by the assessor, while this race represents a drop in grade. He should be competitive off top-weight, while HARSWELL DUKE ran well at Hamilton last time and is another dropping in grade here. He is feared most in the opener.

Selections: HARTSWOOD, HARSWELL DUKE

13.44 – Virgin Bet Maiden Stakes (GBB Race) – 6f

The most solid option here has to be REZ, who caught the eye when fourth on debut at Wolverhampton and was unlucky to be mugged right on the line at Pontefract last time. I don’t think he will face anything in the same calibre as the winner here, so Richard Fahey’s charge gets the vote to make it third time lucky with more to come.

Selections: REZ

14.19 – virginbet.com Handicap – 5f

BLACK FRIDAY ran a decent race when tenth of 24 in the Bronze Cup here last time and this three-time C&D winner is now five-pounds below his last winning mark. If the refitted cheekpieces have a positive effect, he should go close. GUEST LIST had a nightmare passage at Hamilton nine days ago and has a big chance with a clear run this time round off the same mark.

Selections: BLACK FRIDAY, GUEST LIST

14.54 – Virgin Bet Handicap – 7f

THE ORGANISER looked a smart prospect in the making after winning on debut at York last year and while his form has been extremely patchy since, he’s subsequently joined a top yard and should leave his last stable debut run behind with improvement on the cards. ZIP ran well on his only previous visit here when third off an eight pounds higher mark and would have sound claims if able to rediscover that form in this race.

Selections: THE ORGANISER, ZIP

15.29 – Download The Virgin Bet App Handicap (Div 1) – 7f

BLOWING WIND is still winless but ran a good race when second two weeks ago and a similar effort here could see him off the mark. FLYING PURSUIT isn’t the force of old but he’s a course winner and has fallen to a career-low mark. He has always gone well around this venue in better events, so he’s not without hope here. I can see him being competitive despite his advancing years.

Selections: BLOWING WIND, FLYING PURSUIT

16.04 – Download The Virgin Bet App Handicap (Div 2) – 7f

JOSIEBOND produced a career-best when winning ten days ago and although she’s gone up four pounds, she’s going the right way and should be thereabouts. SAFRAN isn’t the most reliable but he’s made the frame multiple times off higher marks when formerly trained by David O’Meara and could be in the mix here.

Selections: JOSIEBOND, SAFRAN
