Aintree Win 6 preview | 13th April

13.45 – Racehorse Lotto Manifesto Novices’ Chase – 2m3f

BANBRIDGE wouldn’t want conditions too soft but he won his first two chase starts and shaped well when second behind El Fabiolo in the Irish Arkle. Despite the possible arrival of rain, he’s a leading player. SAINT ROI was the best of these over hurdles and is a Grade 1 winner over fences as well. He could be hard to beat over this longer trip, while Turner’s winner STAGE STAR is also included on the Win 6 preview.

Selections: BANBRIDGE, STAGE STAR, SAINT ROI

14.20 – Jewson Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle – 2m

ZENTA won a Listed race on soft ground in France and won a Grade 3 on her stable debut in Ireland before running a blinder when third in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham. She sets the standard on that piece of form and is the most likely winner here. SCRIPTWRITER represents last year’s winning stable and is better than he showed last time. He has a good chance, as does Gary Moore’s BO ZENITH who is held in high regard and is respected.

Selections: ZENTA, SCRIPTWRITER, BO ZENITH

14.55 – Alder Hey Aintree Bowl Chase – 3m

CONFLATED returned a good third in the Gold Cup and was second in this race last year. He seems to be getting better and better with each start and will pick up the pieces should the market leaders underperform. A PLUS TARD arrives fresher than most after being tentatively handled when hampered in the Gold Cup and has the class to win this if back to near his best, while SHISHKIN should relish three miles and is the right favourite.

Selections: CONFLATED, A PLUS TARD, SHISHKIN

15.30 – William Hill Aintree Hurdle – 2m4f

CONSTITUTION HILL. He is practically in a league of his own and the way he dispatched Irish Champion Hurdle winner State Man at Cheltenham last month was exceptional. He made him look ordinary and that horse has the beating of the rest of these. I am not sure everyone will be shocked if he doesn’t win this and win it impressively. He is by far and large the best horse in the race and should win.

Selections: CONSTITUTION HILL

16.05 – Randox Foxhunters’ Open Hunters’ Chase – 2m5f

COASTAL TIEP was fourth in this race four years ago and while he’s had his problems since, he has shaped quite well in both his recent starts to finish third. He will like conditions and is worth considering, while WINGED LEADER has been targeted at this race for a while and appeals of the shorter-priced runners. BENNY’S KING has been in great form this year and has excellent place claims at least with a clear round under a likely positive ride.

Selections: COASTAL TIEP, WINGED LEADER, BENNY’S KING

16.40 – Close Brothers Red Rum Handicap Chase – 1m7f

DANCING ON MY OWN is only 3Ib higher than when second last year and given this race has been his target all season, another attacking ride under Rachael Blackmore this time could see him go one place better. PAY THE PIPER has a great chance as well. He is a consistent and solid horse, who has been in good form this season and was unlucky to be mugged last time at Doncaster. This is tougher but the bigger field could really suit and being his trainer’s only runner on the card and his jockey’s only ride on the card, a big performance is surely expected. HATCHER gets weight from all rivals and he returned to form with a third last time plus his form figures in the spring are excellent.

Selections: DANCING ON MY OWN, PAY THE PIPER, HATCHER
