Musselburgh Place 6 Preview | 24th August
14.15 Irish EBF Maiden Stakes
THE MEAN FIDDLER came very close to making a winning debut at Pontefract and then matched that form when runner-up at Ripon. With that experience under his belt, this is a great opportunity for him to go one better.
Tips: THE MEAN FIDDLER
14.45 National Racehorse Week Nursery
The one to beat is FOREST BERRY. She was a very comfortable winner at Wolverhampton when last seen and there’s no reason why this longer distance should be ideal. Even though she has to shoulder a 6lb penalty, the top-weight should prove hard to beat.
Tips: FOREST BERRY
15.15 ‘Celebrating Veteran Armed Forces’ Selling Handicap
FALCON NINE’s last win came over track and trip off today’s mark and he’s been threatening to return to winning ways having only found one too good on his last three starts. He looks poised to have a big say in the matter, while MOTAWAARED is another to enter the mix.
Tips: FALCON NINE & MOTAWAARED
15.45 Ina And Ella MacGregor Handicap
A chance is taken on TWO COMMANDERS. He is yet to finish out of the frame in four starts and remains on the same mark as when third at Catterick last time out. This step up in distance should suit, so he’s the one I like the look of. I’ll be surprised if he’s not fighting for the win.
Tips: TWO COMMANDERS
16.15 Ocean Scotland Outdoor Advertising Handicap
This isn’t a hot race, so it could pay to side with SO GRATEFUL. He’s finished second on his last three starts and remains 4lb lower than when last successful. He’s expected to be bang in contention at the business end, while SKI ANGEL has plenty of good course form and is the other one to note.
Tips: SO GRATEFUL & SKI ANGEL
16.45 Watch On Racing TV Handicap
MISMERALD has run well on all of her last five starts, including when placing here on her last two outings. She remains well treated on past form and should again be competitive. The other one to consider is recent Ayr winner HOSTELRY.
Tips: MISMERALD & HOSTELRY
