Saturday Best Bets

13.55 Newmarket (GRACEFUL SONG)

An intriguing opener at HQ, with the vote going to GRACEFUL SONG, who produced a polished performance when winning over C&D on debut three weeks ago. This will ask more of her credentials but she looks potentially top-class and is fancied to get the team off to a flyer.

14.25 Haydock (DANGER BAY)

Sallaal is the one to beat. However, DANGER BAY would have won the John Smith’s Cup at York with a clear passage and might prove capable of upsetting the favourite. He had previously won Redcar’s Zetland Gold Cup very easily and is well worth his place in this field, so he’s fancied to make a splash at this level.

15.00 Haydock (FALLEN ANGEL)

The class act FALLEN ANGEL looks like a good thing in this Listed event. This multiple Group 1 winner made a disappointing return to action at York but that should have blown away the cobwebs and she’s down considerably in grade here. Karl Burke’s mare should be able to prove a cut above her opposition under James Doyle.

15.40 Newmarket (CASTLE ROCK)

CASTLE ROCK has an absence to overcome but looks absolutely chucked in off a mark of 89 on handicap debut. He has best two respectful horses on his last couple of starts and is seemingly the choice of Billy Loughnane. He can make up for lost time by taking this event en route to moving up in grade.
