I like the chances of JUST A GIRL. She’s been in very good form this year without winning and was last seen finishing a close-up second in a Listed event at Carlisle. A repeat performance back in a handicap could well see her open her account. I’ll be gobsmacked if she’s not heavily competitive.

EKLLEEM absolutely bolted up at Ripon when last seen and that should have given him the confidence to kick on now. An opening mark of 87 could prove lenient and his connections do very well in these types of events. I can see him making an impact.

GREAT ACCLAIM stands off the page. The five-year-old has an amazing, consistent record over this trip, with figures reading 421224323. He’s placed in both the Victoria Cup and Buckingham Palace on his last couple of starts, just about touched off in a three-way photo last time out and has miraculously been left on the same mark.

16.00 Boodles Superlative Stakes (Group 2)

Aidan O’Brien’s ABRAHAM LINCOLN can make his mark in this event. This extremely expensive yearling returned as a comfortable winner on debut and is sure to improve a lot for that experience. He can live up the hype and take the step up in grade in his stride.

16.35 July Cup Stakes (Group 1)

The July Cup can go the way of VENETIAN SUN for Karl Burke. She has won over C&D and was last seen taking the Commonwealth Cup. That was the second time she beat Division and this filly has yet to be beaten over six furlongs, with five wins from five starts. With every box ticked, she can land a second Group 1 win of her career. I’m struggling to see what can beat her if bringing her best form to the table. Excellent claims.
