Newmarket Place 6 Preview | 9th July

13.50 Bahrain Trophy Stakes (Group 3)

DEL MARO should appreciate this longer trip having rallied really well to finish a nose-second in the Queen’s Vase and is down in class. His connections do well at this meeting, so he’s fancied to make it class count by taking the opener.

Tips: DEL MARO

14.25 Kingdom Of Bahrain July Stakes (Group 2)

The unbeaten INNER CITY BLUES is fancied to give his connections a quick-fire double. He justified cramped odds with the minimum of fuss on debut at Yarmouth and is expected to take a big step forward in this race. He has the potential to be top-class, so hopefully he can make his mark in this grade.

Tips: INNER CITY BLUES

15.00 Betway Handicap (Heritage Handicap)

I’m really sweet on the chances of CALICO BLUE, who has already won twice, and has placed on both handicap starts. His latest fourth of 27 behind Bacio at Royal Ascot was seriously eye-catching, and with so much more to offer, Roger Varian’s charge makes plenty of appeal.

Tips: CALICO BLUE

15.35 Princess Of Wales’s Stakes

REBEL’S ROMANCE has certainly had a career to remember but he’s still at the peak of his powers and can register another big-race success in this Group 2 contest. The eight-year-old is a C&D winner and was last seen winning at this level in Meydan. There is no doubt that he’s the best horse in the race and conditions will be perfect for him.

Tips: REBEL’S ROMANCE

16.10 British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes

Three against the field. SCOMMESSA SICURA has only found one too good on all three starts and might be able to put her experience to good use and get her head in front. MADAM SECRETARY is sure to improve from her debut at Listowel and have a say in the matter. SEXY CHICK also shaped with promise when second first time out and is another to consider.

Tips: SCOMMESSA SICURA, MADAM SECRETARY & SEXY CHICK

16.45 Edmondson Hall Solicitors Sir Henry Cecil Stakes (Listed)

Another winner could be on the cards for Appleby and Buick with MORRIS DANCER. His latest third in the Jersey Stakes was solid and he’s dropped in grade with a big chance of registering a third career success. He beat a good yardstick on his penultimate start at Salisbury and should be able to beat this field.

Tips: MORRIS DANCER
