Sandown Place 6 Preview | 4th July

13.50 Coral Charge (Group 3)

The very talented ASFOORA hasn’t been at her best this season but this three-time Group 1 winner must be considered a huge player with her sights lowered. I’m hopeful she will make her class count in the opener.

Tips: ASFOORA

14.25 Coral Challenge (Handicap)

TRIBAL CHIEF has been a real eye-catcher on both starts this year, coming from well off the pace to finish third in the Lincoln and Victoria Cup. The fact that he’s been left on the same mark as last time is a bonus, so in the hope he gets a clear passage this time, I’m confident he goes close to success. INDALO and CERULEAN BAY are others to note.

Tips: TRIBAL CHIEF, INDALO & CERULEAN BAY

15.00 Coral Distaff (Fillies’ Listed)

PACIFIC MISSION wasn’t disgraced when third at Epsom last time out and last year’s runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf will prove a tough nut to crack with a similar performance. I like her chances, while the unbeaten SECRET OF LIFE is worth a second look stepping up in grade.

Tips: PACIFIC MISSION & SECRET OF LIFE

15.35 Coral-Eclipse (Group 1)

This race looks all about Aidan O’Brien. CONSTITUTION RIVER has gone from strength-to-strength and gained a first Group 1 win when beating the reopposing stablemate HAWK MOUNTAIN in France last time out. I’m optimistic the pair will fill the 1-2 in the feature race, with the same result as last time looking imminent.

Tips: CONSTITUTION RIVER & HAWK MOUNTAIB

KING’S CAVALRY has improved with each start and goes for a hat-trick of wins after success at Leicester and Doncaster. He has an excellent chance, as does JUNGLE RULER. He’s been solid in defeat since winning at Southwell in January and could make an impact.

Tips: KING’S CAVALRY & JUNGLE RULER

16.47 Coral Free Rewards Shaker Handicap

ST HILDA ran a good race when second at Goodwood last time out and could be thrown in this race off a mark of 73 on her handicap debut, while TAMBORA is the other one to consider. He shaped well when fourth on handicap bow last time out and can get involved.

Tips: ST HILDA & TAMBORA
