Newcastle Place 6 Preview | 3rd April
13.15 BetMGM Burradon Stakes (Listed)
The opener can see ANDAB stamp his class. He concluded his two-year-old campaign with a Listed win at Dundalk and ran really well when second in a Group 2 on his reappearance at Doha. Despite carrying a penalty, Joseph O’Brien’s charge should prove hard to beat.
Tips: ANDAB
13.50 BetMGM All-Weather 3 Year Old Championships Handicap
MONARCH’S GOLD shaped reasonably well when fifth over track and trip on his penultimate start and improved to finish a good second at Southwell last time out.
He could go well in first-time cheekpieces, while NORTHERN EMPIRE and the thriving AL NAJASHI are others to consider in a wide-open contest.
Tips: MONARCH’S GOLD, NORTHERN EMPIRE & AL NAJASHI
14.25 BetMGM Fillies’ And Mares’ Championships Handicap
FOUETTE already has three wins to her name (two wins from two on the all-weather) and has caught the eye on her past couple of starts.
She may have won a Listed event at Lingfield in November had she encountered a clear passage, but back in handicap company off a mark of 93, could see her in the mix.
PARIS BABE has decent form from her time in France and might be able to raise her game on UK debut with Hollie Doyle booked to ride. She’s another to consider.
Tips: FOUETTE & PARIS BABE
15.00 BetMGM All-Weather Championships Mile Handicap
CHANCELLOR finished a neck-second in a Listed event at Kempton in September before a victory in the same grade at Southwell and then another second by a neck at Lingfield. He’s open to a lot more improvement this season and the return to a mile will play to his strengths. He is a classy horse and should go well.
FLIGHT PLAN is 5lb lower than when winning last year’s Thirsk Hunt Cup and is no back-number, while TYRRHENIAN STAR, who chased home Chancellor last time out, is another to consider given his record here (11123 from five starts). He is capable of being on the shakeup.
Tips: CHANCELLOR, FLIGHT PLAN & TYRRHENIAN SEA
15.35 Midnite All-Weather Sprint Handicap
SARAB STAR could easily be arriving into this event with five wins from six starts. He’s still won three of them and has form figures of 212 in handicaps (two narrow defeats in second).
He came within half-a-length of beating Kempton specialist Mount Athos last time out and a reproduction of that performance, with more to come, could see him go one better. I really like his chances.
MARSHMAN has winning form over course and distance and finished a solid third in race last year off a 5lb higher mark. He was unlucky not to collect a Listed event at Wolverhampton when last seen (third) and is fancied to have another major say in the outcome.
Tips: SARAB STAR & MARSHMAN
16.10 Midnite All-Weather Easter Classic Middle Distance Handicap
BRAGBOR has not finished out of the frame on all career starts and has a record at this venue that reads figures of 121322. He’s caught the eye on all of his starts in defeat, including when runner-up on both outings at this level here.
He’s finished with a flourish the last three times and it’s only a matter of time before everything drops right for him. If Jamie Spencer can weave his way through the pack, I expect him to be bang there at the finish.
Top weight GAUCHER has bolted up on his last two starts at Dundalk and is feared most for Willie Mullins.
Tips: BRAGBOR & GAUCHER
