Catterick Place 6 Preview | 24th February
14.00 Racing TV Club Day Maiden Hurdle
ITSINTHENAME has to be considered a major player in the opener. Nick Schofield’s newish recruit was a touch unlucky when finishing a neck-second on rules debut at Lingfield and is very interesting on hurdles bow. In this thin-looking event, I can see him landing the spoils.
Tips: ITSINTHENAME

MERRY SHUIL produced her best effort so far when runner-up here two weeks ago. She clearly benefitted from the positive tactics and has only been raised a pound. With so much more to come, the eight-year-old must have every chance of going one place better.
Tips: MERRY SHUIL

This looks wide-open but OZZY COSMO could be the answer. He’s struggled for a while now but did make the frame at Newcastle around this time last year off a 16lb higher mark. Given he has continued to slip down the handicap, the seven-year-old is worth the roll of the dice.
Tips: OZZY COSMO

Donald McCain’s GEROMINO is best known for his exploits at Doncaster but he reappeared with a fine fourth at Haydock and is 5lb lower than when last successful which came in a stronger event. Connections have deliberately pulled him out of other engagements in search of better ground, so he’s fancied to make an impact.
Tips: GEROMINO

None of these can be ruled out as all of them arrive in decent nick. However, I’m going to take a chance on AILT AN CHORRAIN, who came so close to scoring here last time out and should improve over this longer distance. Off a low weight on just his fourth start in this sphere, Brian Hughes’ mount is one to be interested in.
Tips: AILT AN CHORRAIN
16.30 Racing Again 4th March Handicap Hurdle
EDGEWELL was well beaten over fences last time out but should be much happier back over hurdles and his last two wins in this sphere came off higher marks. With Sean Bowen booked to ride, Nick Schofield’s charge must have leading credentials.
Tips: EDGEWELL
